Zayo is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to join our Network team. This role is ideal for a skilled writer with a deep understanding of telecommunications technologies, including networking, hardware, software, and services. The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating clear, concise, and user-friendly technical documentation aimed at both technical and non-technical audiences. In this role you will support various teams such as Construction, Network Planning, Engineering, Network Monitoring & Automation, Architecture, Security and Telemetry.   

Locations: Prefer candidates in Tulsa, OK or Denver, CO.  Remote anywhere in US for the right candidate!

Responsibilities:

• Create and Maintain Documentation: Develop, edit, and maintain high-quality user manuals, standards,  product documentation, system installation guides, release notes, and knowledge base articles.

• Organization Strategy: Develop and implement documentation organizational methodology to allow for efficient locating and access of relevant documentation. Provide training to the user base to ensure ongoing compliance and awareness.

• Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs): Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, network architects, and other technical team members to gather information and ensure accuracy in documentation.

• Content Strategy and Planning: Define and lead content strategy for documentation across different telecom products and services. Organize and prioritize content deliverables based on project timelines and business needs.

• Audience Analysis: Tailor documentation for a variety of audiences including end-users, engineers, network operators, and administrators, ensuring clarity and understanding at all technical levels.

• Quality Assurance: Perform reviews and edits of documentation to ensure consistency, correctness, and clarity. Use a technical writing style guide and industry best practices.

• Tool Utilization: Use advanced tools for documentation management and ensure version control and proper formatting for all deliverables.

• Stay Updated on Industry Trends: Stay informed about emerging telecommunications technologies and regulatory requirements, adjusting documentation to reflect the latest industry standards and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of five (5) years of professional technical writing experience, preferably in the telecommunications, networking, or IT industry.

• Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communication, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Technical Skills: Familiarity with telecom technologies (e.g., 5G, fiber optics, DWDM, IP Routing, wireless networks, VoIP, SD-WAN), and ability to quickly learn new technical concepts.

• Writing Skills: Excellent written communication skills, with a strong command of grammar, punctuation, and style. Ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple, understandable terms.

• Tools: Proficiency in documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, MadCap Flare, Confluence, JIRA, Salesforce, and Asana. 

• Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and a focus on producing error-free, accurate content.

• Collaboration: Strong team player with the ability to work with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Telecommunications Experience: Experience in creating documentation for telecommunication infrastructure, wireless or mobile networks, and related systems.

• Project Management Skills: Ability to manage documentation projects, timelines, and deliverables efficiently.

Estimated Base Salary Range: $66,500-$95,000 USD/annually.

The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.
