At Red Canary we strive to do what's best for our customers, which means documentation is an important component of our products. As a Technical Writer, the documentation you create and maintain will ensure that our customers, partners, and other users are empowered by a seamless and sensible product experience.
Red Canary builds deep partnerships with security telemetry providers, creating incredible outcomes for our customers. You’ll plan, write, and publish customer-facing user manuals and reference documentation to clearly and effectively explain how Red Canary solutions are used and benefit customers. Working across multiple teams, you’ll contribute to the help center used by all Red Canary teams, partners, and customers.
What You'll Do
- Develop a deep understanding of Red Canary’s products and services.
- Translate complex product information into simple, engaging, high-quality documentation.
- Drive the entire document creation lifecycle to plan, write, format, edit, review, proofread, and publish procedural and technical content for technical and non-technical users.
- Assist in the development and deployment of content tools, workflows, and processes.
- Provide feedback regarding Red Canary technical writing standards and processes.
- Pivot gracefully to meet the needs of the business within your area of responsibility.
- Focus on continuously improving your writing, relationships, and workflows.
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years of Technical Writing experience.
- Demonstrated ability to write consistently and professionally, following accepted Technical Writing principles, practices, and standards.
- Solid understanding of help authoring tools and basic HTML/CSS.
- Experience capturing, editing, and maintaining screen images.
- Skill to produce professional-looking flow, process, and entity relationship diagrams.
- Capacity for self-direction and ability to work with minimal supervision to systematically discover, draft, and execute on product documentation needs.
- Ability to work as an embedded resource within multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
- Deep sense of personal responsibility and willingness to act as a content gatekeeper to ensure the excellence of all Red Canary product documentation.
- Comfort working in a continuous release software development paradigm where unexpected product needs may arise.
- Keen eye for detail.
The targeted base salary for this role is $78,600 - $100,000 per year. This role is also eligible for participation in the company's bonus program, and eligible for a grant of stock options, subject to the approval of the company's board of directors. The application deadline is January 24th, 2025.
