The Technical Specialist - Adhesives reports to the Laboratory Technical Services Manager for H.B. Fuller’s Advanced Building Solutions (ABS) team and will support various applications and markets including cabinetry, doors, lamination, profile wrapping, insulating glass and windows. The individual in this position will spend most of their time in the application laboratories at the Pilot Facility. They will also have the opportunity to support physical property testing at the Willow Lake Headquarters.

Position Overview

  • Perform complex laboratory applications tasks and procedures accurately and efficiently.

  • Communicate well with fellow employees, suppliers, and customers.

  • Problem-solve with minimal direction and the ability to work independently

  • Document work, provide status updates, communicate with requestors and customers.

  • Execute application and laboratory test plans to support material characterization, process characterization, and root cause analysis.

  • Manage equipment, products and supplies to support technical services requests efficiently.

  • Take ownership of assigned technical service requests  

  • Constructing test specimens and completing application trials with hot melts, reactive hot melts, 2K/1K -polyurethane, silicone, polysulfide

  • Maintaining product, waste, and supply inventory

  • Preventative maintenance on equipment

  • Ordering materials and supplies to complete technical service requests

  • Supporting standardization/5S of equipment and processes, safety initiatives and internal and external training/tours

  • Preparing small scale sealant samples/down packing efforts

  • Supporting physical property testing of internal and external products and quality and cost savings initiatives

  • Co-owning shared laboratory space and equipment - cleanliness/organization

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma and at least 5 years of relevant work experience OR Associates or technical degree in related area of study and at least 2 years of relevant work experience OR Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or related area of study

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related field.

  • ASC TAC certification

  • 1 year of training in adhesives/applications/machinery/substrates

This position is not eligible for work visa sponsorship. Applicants must have U.S. work authorization that does not now or in the future require H.B. Fuller sponsorship of a work visa to work for H.B. Fuller.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $75,000 - $87,000.

In addition to your salary, H.B. Fuller offers employees a competitive total rewards package including comprehensive benefits, incentive and recognitions programs, health & wellness benefits, 401K contributions, paid time off and paid holidays. Eligibility may vary.
