About Density:

Density’s mission is to measure and improve our footprint on the world.

We help companies understand how their workplaces are used. We do that by observing behavior in the office through our highly accurate and always anonymous sensors. In other words: where are people actually spending their time? We translate that data into actionable, opinionated insights that help companies increase the financial and experiential performance of any workplace.

Today, we work with companies from Fortune 500s to high growth innovators in technology, financial services and healthcare, occupying more than a billion square feet worldwide. And we’re in it for the long game: what if we knew more, created better spaces, and could build cities that worked and felt better?

That’s where you come in...

The Opportunity:

At Density, we are passionate about creating innovative software products that empower users. We are looking for a Technical Product Manager who is enthusiastic, hard-working, and ready to take on exciting challenges in the tech industry. You will focus on the details that bring products to life, collaborating with both technical and non-technical teams to drive the development of high-quality products.

We are looking for a driven and self-motivated Technical Product Manager to join our growing product management team. In this role, you will work with engineering teams and cross-functional stakeholders to help bring our software products to market. You will play a critical role in driving the day-to-day details of product development, managing the product lifecycle from inception through delivery, and ensuring that the products we create meet our customers’ needs.

In this role you will:

  • Product & Project Management: Define and manage the technical and functional details of product features and enhancements, ensuring alignment with business goals. Support project planning, tracking, and execution, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met while maintaining strong communication across teams.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, UX/UI, and quality assurance teams to ensure product features are developed according to specifications and requirements.
  • Requirement Gathering: Help document and clarify product requirements, translating them into actionable tasks for engineering teams. Maintain clear, detailed user stories and technical specifications.
  • Product Execution: Drive day-to-day execution of the product development process, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned, and that product deliverables are completed on time and within scope.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as the point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders regarding product details, features, and timelines. Provide regular updates on progress, blockers, and milestones.
  • Problem Solving: Take a hands-on approach to identifying and resolving issues that may arise during product development, working with the team to find creative solutions.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, tools, and best practices to help improve our product management processes.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in software product management, project management, or a related field. Experience with technical products and an understanding of software development processes is a plus.
  • Hardware Startup Experience: Ideally, you have experience working in a hardware startup or a hybrid hardware/software environment. This includes managing the complexities of hardware product lifecycles, integrating hardware and software, and collaborating closely with engineering teams. You’ll be comfortable with rapid iterations, tight timelines, and the fast-paced nature of a growing hardware/software startup.
    • Familiarity with working on products that have both physical and digital components, including handling challenges that arise from product testing, hardware supply chains, or manufacturing constraints.
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
    • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities.
    • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, or similar).
    • Knowledge of basic technical concepts such as APIs, databases, cloud-based systems, and embedded systems is a bonus.
  • Strong Familiarity with AI Tools:
    • Experience using AI-powered tools for product management, data analysis, and problem-solving, including familiarity with automation and machine learning platforms.
  • Attributes:
    • Enthusiastic and motivated to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.
    • Self-starter with a go-getter attitude and a proactive approach to challenges.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
    • A positive team player who thrives in collaborative settings.

What We Do

At Density, we believe cities would look different if they knew how they were used. Understanding our relationship with physical space empowers us to reimagine what the built environment can be.

11,370 new buildings are being built every day and 39% of global carbon emissions come from existing buildings. If we want to build a more productive, sustainable future, we have to measure all those buildings. We work with the Fortune 1000 to measure and improve their offices, buildings, and portfolios. Density’s data creates more efficient and productive workplaces for people and the planet.

We’re on a mission to measure and improve our footprint on the world.
