About the role

In the role of Principal Technical Product Manager, you will report to the Director of Product Security, Trust, and Privacy. 

We are considering applicants for the locations of San Francisco or Los Angeles. 

As a Principal Technical Product Manager, you will help ensure the security and integrity of our software systems, applications, and infrastructure. You will provide leadership with security requirements and architectures, implement best practices, and collaborate across the entire organization and with partners to embed security where needed. Your expertise will safeguard our content, services, data, and users from the latest threats while ensuring seamless, secure user experiences.

Success will be measured in your ability to protect the privacy and trust of our users, as well as protect our service and content against tampering and theft.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Security Leadership: Work with internal (and partner) teams to ensure the use and development of security architecture/features/technologies required for our short-term and long-term success.
  • Requirement Gathering and Prioritization: Collaborate with partners to gather requirements, prioritize features, and provide secure and creative solutions that meet user and organizational needs.
  • Collaboration: Bridge communication between product management, engineering, QA, DevOps, and business teams to ensure successful Crunchyroll product launches and security updates, as well as our partners.
  • Response to Latest Threats: Work with internal Crunchyroll and Sony teams (Trust and Safety, IT Security, Security Engineering, Anti-Piracy, InfoSec) to stay abreast of current security, fraud, and abuse issues to combat.
  • Risk Assessment and Compliance: Identify security risks, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS), and advocate for secure product development practices.
  • Market Research and Analysis: Stay ahead of industry trends, competitive security offerings, and emerging threats in the market to inform product decisions and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Customer Advocacy: Represent customer needs and concerns related to security, ensuring that products address real-world challenges while providing smooth, exceptional user experiences.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for security-related elements and measure success through regular reporting and feedback loops.

About You

  • 15+ years of experience in technical product management or architecture, with a focus on technical products or security solutions.
  • Experience with security technologies, including encryption, secure coding practices, authentication protocols, and threat modeling.
  • Experience translating technical concepts into requirements and vice versa.
  • Familiarity with development tools and environments, such as Jira, Confluence, Git, or similar.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container security (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Certifications like CISSP, CISM, or Product Management credentials are desirable.
  • Experience communicating product updates, milestones, and progress to internal and external partners.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

You will join the Product Management organization and specifically within a team looking after Service Security, Trust and Privacy. As a team, we're leading improvements to Crunchyroll's services against attacks, fraud and abuse, and support growth!

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees.
