Within the Automation group you will develop and implement condition-based maintenance programs, enhance the reliability of automation systems, and assist with equipment outages and maintenance. Your responsibilities include reviewing management of change plans, supporting project design and automation systems, developing and delivering training programs, coordinating firmware and software testing, creating implementation plans, and performing due diligence.

Engineer Staff:

As Engineer Staff - Automation, you will provide programming, troubleshooting, training and commissioning services for sophisticated automated compression and process control systems throughout the enterprise. Confidence in presentation-making and the ability to work independently and as a team leader are essential in this role. Taking initiative, anticipating customer needs and crafting innovative solutions are keys to success!

Responsibilities/Expectations:

  • Provides technical expertise in automation for specialty, geographic area, or operational function
  • Makes decisions and solves unique and complex issues within the broader function, company and industry standard methodologies
  • Applies specialized knowledge in the effective completion of major projects while supervising and controlling costs and resources associated with projects
  • Prepares and delivers presentations
  • Maintains a strong understanding of industry and operational requirements
  • Interprets and anticipates internal and external business challenges and customer needs; improves products, processes or services and identifies solutions
  • Collaborates with teams to ensure compliance, build improvement plans and meet training needs
  • Serves as content lead and custodian for operations and maintenance requirements, guidelines and variance requests
  • Supports technical security initiatives and hardware refreshes
  • Technical specialist for additions, suspensions and deletions of approved manufacturer list for enterprise
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Years of Experience:

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Engineering field from an accredited college or university, OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology in a relevant field with Professional Engineer (P.E.) license; A minimum of fifteen (15) years of engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry
  • Preferred: PE Certification

Other Requirements:

  • Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Application and PC skills
  • Sophisticated knowledge in enterprise administration, maintenance, reporting and support for AssetCentre and other enterprise automation systems and software
  • Proven understanding of programmable logic control (PCI), distributed control (DCS) and human-machine interface (HMI) systems and programming protocols for operations support

Technical Specialist Staff

As Technical Specialist Staff, you’ll serve as a subject matter specialist in your field. This role is responsible for developing and implementing operational standards and technical specifications, so attention to detail and safety are top priorities. It’s also a leadership role, required to coordinate the work of team members and leads presentations to management!

Responsibilities/Expectations:

  • Performs tasks that safely ensure system integrity, support pipeline operations and maintain regulatory compliance and facility equipment
  • Serves as subject matter specialist and leader in a specific technical field
  • Develops and implements operational and/or technical standards and specifications
  • Troubleshoots/resolves sophisticated problems using existing precedents/procedures
  • Provides technical/operational mentorship
  • Accounts for the technical aspect of the project plan and collaborates with company partners
  • Drives development and tasks associated with operations, equipment maintenance, technical standards and/or governmental requirements
  • Leads team projects of major scope or unusual complexity that has an impact on profitability
  • Adheres to Company policies and safety procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Years of Experience:

  • Required: High school diploma/GED with equivalent experience or Associates degree and a minimum eight (8) years’ experience in oil & gas industry
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a technical field or engineering and a minimum fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in field operations or other technical specialty field

Physical and Environment Work Requirements:

Must be willing to:

  • Work in extreme temperatures, with loud noises and in enclosed spaces
  • Carry or lift items up to 50 lbs and team lift loads of more than 50 lbs as needed
  • Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat, often for long periods of time
  • Work at elevated levels, potentially from man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and/or small towers, with appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)
  • Use hand tools

Shift/Work Hours/Travel Requirements:

  • Available to work after hours, on-call rotations, nights, weekend shifts and holidays as the need arises
  • May be required to work overtime, 10-12 hour shifts and travel between Williams locations with occasional overnight stays

Other Requirements:

  • Must possess valid State Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Application and PC skills and experience in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), HMI, Allen Bradley and SCADA solutions
  • Familiar with Distributed Control System (DCS) programming (Yokogawa)
