As a Talent Operations and Compliance Associate, you will play a crucial role in supporting the team by managing the onboarding process within our HRIS system and developing employee services, policies, and programs across the organization. This includes maintaining accurate records of certifications, licenses, credentials, and job-specific requirements, ensuring everything remains compliant with state, federal, and company regulations. Additionally, you will contribute to compliance initiatives and help implement strategies that foster a positive workplace environment. Your work will be instrumental in enhancing the overall employee experience by addressing key needs and supporting a culture that aligns with Abarca’s values.
The fundamentals for the job…
- Assist in the development and ongoing improvement of internal process documentation, policies, and the employee handbook.
- Provide comprehensive support for HR compliance, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and company regulations, while identifying and mitigating risks that could result in audit findings. (Ex. Supporting internal and external audits such as URAC accreditation, DOL, and SOC requirements).
- Oversee compliance-related tasks, such as I-9 forms, E-Verify, Affirmative Action Plans, licensure verification and credentials, ensuring all records meet company and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with relevant parties to identify, assess, and address risks, ensuring timely resolution of compliance concerns.
- Maintain accurate logs of noncompliance cases for audit purposes.
- Manage HRIS data integrity, perform data maintenance, and resolve discrepancies to support processes like payroll and audits.
- Manage and enhance onboarding processes within the HRIS, including maintaining employee records, ensuring compliance, overseeing employee changes, employment verification requests, managing document signatures, coordinating benefit enrollments, and continuously improving these workflows for greater efficiency and accuracy.
- Support employee offboarding and assist with payroll and benefits inquiries, serving as a backup when needed.
- Support Wellness Program initiatives, including organizing sessions, coordinating with vendors or facilitators, and co-hosting as needed.
- Conduct audits of legally mandated HR training completions, such as Domestic Violence, Discrimination, and Harassment Protocol training.
- Facilitate payroll and benefits orientation sessions for new hires.
- Provide comprehensive support for additional tasks or special projects as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a can-do attitude.
What you’re made of
The bold requirements…
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Labor & Industrial Psychology or a related field. (In lieu of a degree, equivalent relevant work experience may be considered.)
- 1+ years of experience in Human Resources or a compliance role.
- Experience managing HRIS platforms (e.g. UKG/Kronos)
- Proficient in applying and overseeing state and federal employment regulations related to employee benefits administration and HR best practices.
- Highly detail oriented with a focus on providing effective solutions.
- Exceptional organization skills
- Demonstrates a high level of integrity in handling sensitive matters.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is required.
- We are proud to offer a flexible hybrid work model which will require certain on-site workdays (Puerto Rico Location Only)
- This position requires availability to work in a specified time zone or working schedule, accommodating the business needs of our clients and team members.
- This position may require availability for on-call hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to promptly address emergent issues or provide necessary support as dictated by operational demands (if applicable).

- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
