The Position:

Makpar has an exciting opportunity for a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Systems Program Manager for a federal client.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and administrative Program / Project support to technical Team supporting the maintenance of the current VDI solution and the analysis/evaluation/design/testing of a hybrid /cloud based solution.
  • Develop and implement program policies, procedures, and performance metrics to ensure service quality and efficiency.
  • Responsible for overall management of technical project deliverables, customer communications and stakeholder engagement. 
  • Oversight of:
  • 1) Testing, validation and verification of iPad connectivity, and operations of supplemental applications.
  • 2) Pilot 50 concurrent iPad users using proposed solution Dependencies on either EOPs/Cyber selecting (Zscaler or Palo Alto), Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) or using an Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) implementation.
  • 3) Develop user training guide/documentation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience managing large-scale IT programs, including 5+ years in federal contracting environments.
  • Technical project management in Agile environments
  • PMP Certification (preferred).
  • Strong technical leadership abilities including ability to run meetings with highly technical audiences and coordinate changes across IT business units.
  • Strong ability to explain highly complex technology solutions to management and provide technical recommendations and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of general IT concepts: Virtualization technology (hypervisor/hyperconverged infrastructure, control plane, resource allocation/pooling), networking, Windows server and workstation administration, group policy etc.
  • Moderate understanding of budgeting and procurement process.
  • Moderate understanding of Federal IT Governance deliverables such as RBDs, POAMs, SSPs, BSRs, UWRs, SecChm, requirement documentation.
  • Moderate understanding of mainstream cloud computing platforms (Azure, AWS).
  • Moderate knowledge of network design including VLANs, on-premise network routing, cloud network design, and hybrid network topologies (both on-prem and cloud-based components).
  • Moderate understanding of Cloud PaaS, IaaS and networking concepts and available technologies.
  • Moderate understanding of Zero Trust Network Access/SASE technology and general IT Security concepts.
  • Moderate understanding of NIST Security controls and how to address them with technical implementation.
