Ensures that all surveillance records, reports, schedules, and directives are maintained within the control office. Daily awareness of current activities, control center needs, and problem areas to be able to report to the Safety and Security Director. Maintains the photo ID system for hospital employees, physicians, and volunteers. Maintains the parking ID badge system for the hospital. Maintains a “lost and found” system for the hospital. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required
EXPERIENCE:
1. Three years’ experience working in a Security Control Center or equivalent.

2. Use a computer keyboard, monitor and mouse. Answer telephones and transcribe messages. Communicate verbally, written and electronically with healthcare personnel, families and patients.

1. Generates scheduled backups of full databases for the control center operations; conducts diagnostic evaluations as needed.
2. Maintains appropriate documentation, data collection, and reports as instructed by the Director of Security.
3. Control Center operator for security briefings and information with Director of Security and other Berkeley Medical Center staff as directed by the Director of Security.
4. Responds to all requests for security assistance.
5. Provides relief to the Switchboard as requested.
6. Maintains all activity on ECC Daily Report Log on the ECC computer i.e. locks, unlocks, rounds, breaks, etc.
7. Assigns all visitors name badges/stickers after confirming visitation privileges with floor patient is assigned to.
8. Exercises proper stewardship through the appropriate use of supplies, equipment, and time.
9. Follows hospital, state and federal guidelines for ensuring safe environment for workers, patients and public. Ensures compliance by staff to hospital, governmental and insurance regulations.
10. Communicates and interacts with clients, families, visitors, physicians, departmental and hospital staff and the public in general in a manner that demonstrates professionalism and concern for the individuals' need(s).
11. Remains current and responsive to changes in healthcare delivery, standards established by professional organizations, regulatory and accrediting bodies and the needs of the organization.
12. Monitors fire alarm, security, code alarms, panic buttons, and other system monitoring equipment and dispatches security to real or potential emergency situations. Performs monthly checks of the Safety/Security Systems.
13. Receives 1-911 calls and internal calls from hospital departments and dispatches appropriate staff.
14. Provides disaster response coordination and dispatch when staffing the Emergency Control Center.
15. Willingly accepts assignments within scope of practice, skill set and level of competence.

3. Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and be capable of normal rotation, standing, and walking for an 11-12 hour shift.
