About the role:

Join BSI as a Standards Development Manager (SDM) and play a key role in shaping industry standards within the built environment sector. This is a dynamic opportunity to manage national and international standards committees, drive strategic initiatives, and engage with industry leaders to influence best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of standards committees, projects, and programs, ensuring they meet market and stakeholder needs.
  • Engage with key stakeholders—including industry experts, government bodies, and trade associations—to grow and develop standards.
  • Drive strategic development, identifying opportunities for new standards and expanding BSI’s influence in the sector.
  • Represent the UK internationally, providing expert input on European and global standardisation efforts.
  • Ensure timely project delivery, overseeing workflows and collaborating with internal teams, including Content, Marketing, and Policy.
  • Provide expert guidance to committee chairs, participants, and stakeholders, facilitating discussions and building consensus.

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build relationships and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Project management expertise, capable of handling multiple publishing projects across various industries.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to collaborate with professionals at all levels.
  • A proactive, strategic mindset, keen to identify new opportunities for standards development.
