The Staff Electronics Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and reviewing advanced electronic systems for our luxury electric vehicles. Your focus will be on digital projectors, ADAS sensors, and camera modules, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance, safety, and reliability.
Responsibilities:
- Design and review electronic circuits and PCBs for automotive-grade digital projectors, ADAS sensors, and camera systems
- Understand and apply knowledge of image sensors, micro displays, LEDs, LED drivers, LDOs, DC/DC converters, PMICs, and automotive SOCs in design and development processes
- Develop and implement system architectures for integrating these components into our vehicle platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of electronic systems
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of designs, adhering to automotive industry standards
- Optimize designs for performance, cost, and manufacturability
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in automotive electronics
- Ensure compliance with specifications and standards specific to the body electronics and lighting domain, such as ISO 26262, AEC-Q100, and automotive communication protocols.
- Perform design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
- Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure the availability of quality components for production.
- Develop test strategies and validation plans for control units and lighting systems, including environmental testing, functional testing, and EMC/EMI testing.
- Analyze and troubleshoot electrical issues, ensuring timely resolutions and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred
- 7+ years of related experience
- Experience in automotive electronics design, preferably in luxury, high-performance vehicles, robotics, or a similar field
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics, layouts, and PCB design principles and proficiency in PCB design software such as Altium Designer
- Strong knowledge of automotive standards including ISO 26262, AUTOSAR, and CAN protocols
- Understanding of automotive Ethernet, FPD-Link, GMSL and similar protocols and architectures as well as high speed interfaces such as MIPI , DSI and CSI
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink or Python for simulation and modeling
- Familiarity with high-speed digital design and signal integrity principles
- Ability to perform signal Integrity and power Integrity simulation and testing
- Understanding of EMC/EMI considerations in automotive environments
- Knowledge of image sensors, optoelectronics, and LED/laser technology
- Experience with ADAS technologies including radar and LiDAR
- Proven experience in developing test plans and conducting validation tests for electrical components and systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external suppliers
Preferred/Bonus Qualifications:
- PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Familiarity with CAD software like SolidWorks or CATIA
- Experience with Vector CANoe for automotive network analysis
- Knowledge of SPICE simulation tools for circuit analysis
- Experience with FPGA-based architectures for image processing
- Familiarity with NVIDIA DRIVE platform, Mobileye, or Xilinx (AMD) technologies
- Knowledge of Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) and zonal E/E architectures
- Experience with LabVIEW for testing and measurement
- Experience in designing lighting systems for automotive applications
- Familiarity with optical design principles, including light distribution, beam patterns, and imaging systems
- Knowledge of advanced lighting and display technologies, such as micro-LED, MEMS, LCoS and DMD
- Understanding of thermal management techniques in lighting systems
- Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) principles
- Working knowledge of automotive safety standards and regulations
- Proven expertise in high-bandwidth electronics design for displays, including block diagram creation and component selection
