Job Description
This position will report to the Accounting Supervisor. The Staff Accountant will apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the duties shown below.
Functions include but are not limited to the following. Must be able to move freely between tasks depending on workload, season, etc.
- Review construction in progress and coordinate with project managers
- Process fixed assets additions, retirements, transfers, adjustments, and other property transactions
- Maintain fixed assets subsystem for GAAP, federal, and state books for multiple entities
- Reconcile and maintain detailed monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and roll forward schedules
- Prepare state property tax payments and state property tax reports such as 571 statements and agricultural questionnaires
- Prepare journal entries and reclasses
- Assist with the external annual audit and federal and state tax return support files, including the preparation of various schedules
- Assist with ad hoc projects, such as process improvement projects, and perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- 1 to 3 years accounting experience preferred; A combination of education and experience will be considered.
SPECIFIC KNOWELDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS:
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP)
- Ability to work with detailed information, producing high quality output and delivered in a timely manner
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products. Strong Excel skills required
- Demonstrates initiative to learn about business and work to improve results
- Strong organizational and critical thinking skills
- Ability to multi-task and manage competing deadlines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
- Oracle knowledge desirable
- Ability to proactively identify, resolve and communicate issues
Pay Range: $70,000 - $80,000. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds independently. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Physical exertion is moderate. Frequent moving and stationary position on uneven ground.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates predominately in an office environment. This role will be exposed to noise levels low – moderate and moderate temperatures.
