Job Description:

The Sr. Staff Engineer, Software Development will be responsible for the design and development of software solutions as part of an Agile software development team.

  • Design and code scalable, high traffic services.
  • Define, implement and maintain a common technology platform.
  • Enable secure and high availability solutions in a SaaS environment.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, engineers, product owners, and stakeholders to plan, scope, design, refine, and understand software applications and requirements.
  • Work with Product Management team to develop solutions that delight our customers.
  • Participate in peer design and code reviews.
  • Design, develop, consume, and maintain well-defined development standards and APIs.
  • Maintain, modify, and assume responsibility for ongoing architectural improvements.
  • Product automated tests for developed software with reasonable test cases (includes unit, regression, integration tests where applicable).
  • Performance Tuning for integration APIs.
  • Participate in broad architectural reviews.
  • Work as part of a scrum team to develop new features for patients and practices.
  • Create and utilize automated unit tests to ensure quality of code.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop the talents of more junior engineers.
  • Research and proof-of-concept work with new technologies.
  • Provide estimates and technical feasibility guidance on prospective work.
  • Perform other duties that support the overall objective of the position.
     

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.

Experience Required:

  • 10+ years' experience developing robust applications with high availability, performance, and scalability requirements.
  • 10+ years' experience in software development.
  • 1-2 years' experience in software architecture, with an eye for performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Experience with relational database technology (SQL Server, Oracle, or DB2).
  • Experience building web services SOAP/Restful (JSON).
  • Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required equivalent qualifications for the position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of: Proficient in Clinical content management; source repository management systems using: BitBucket. Knowledge of and proficient in AGILE development processes; proficient in JavaScript, XML. web service protocols (HTTPS, REST, SOAP); working knowledge of RDBMS and NoSQL database technologies (e.g. PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch); Microsoft based software solutions; expertise in full stack development.
  • Skill in: Leadership and influencing; strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in Healthcare IT technologies and standards (CCDA, HL7, FHIR) is preferred
  • Ability to: Demonstrate comfort and ownership of technical decisions and portions of an enterprise software solution platform; determine root cause analysis and debugging to diagnose and resolve issues in complex environments; influence other developers and stakeholders regarding practices and procedures.
