The RoleIn this role, the Senior Engineer will work closely with customers to configure and implement advanced applications across power grids to deliver the advanced transmission management functions of OSI's control systems and provide ongoing customer support to ensure reliable performance and world-class customer satisfaction. Working from the Netherlands, and from company and customer sites across Europe as required, the successful applicant will contribute to project delivery excellence in support of utility customers in the energy generation transmission and distribution industries.

Your Impact

You play a critical role in shaping the future electrical grid, leveraging your expertise to integrate innovative solutions that enhance grid efficiency and reliability. This involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to assess the impact of new technologies and customer demands.

You will support our utility clients undertaking complex, SCADA/EMS/DMS centric programs with a focus on IT/OT integration.

  • You design, plan, integrate, test and commission hardware and software requirements on customer systems.
  • You provide technical sales support of state-of-the-art power systems applications for real-time control systems, including sales presentations and product demonstrations.
  • You evaluate contract specifications and define project requirements through customer communication and communicate the requirements to other departments as necessary.
  • You provide networking and system/application design.
  • You perform hardware, software and system installation, integration, and testing for projects.
  • You customize system, hardware and network configuration based on customer requirements.
  • You provide customer support and assistance per contract maintenance and warranty.
  • You assist in creating training materials and project documentation as needed.
     

What You'll Need

  • Higher Degree (MSc preferred) in Electronics, Electrical or Power Systems Engineering or Computer Science

  • At least 4 years experience of working within automation, primarily in the energy industry (IT, Distribution Operations, SCADA, Emerging Technology/DER Programs, Customer Operations, Telecom)

  • Innovative thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to bridge energy technology and IT.

  • Must be flexible with working hours and willing to travel (20% of time) in order to support projects globally.

  • A collaborative spirit, ready to engage in multidisciplinary teams towards the energy transition.

  • Passion for sustainable energy solutions and the drive to continuously learn and apply new technologies.

  • Experience in designing, implementing, and testing advanced power systems applications including State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, Study Power Flow, model management, or other specialized functions.

  • Knowledge of networking (Modbus, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850), databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra), and basic programming languages e.g., Bash, PowerShell, C++, Python)

  • Ability to understand and communicate customer requirements, ownership of technical discussions with customers and capable of developing client relationships.

  • Proficiency in English. Other languages are optional, but they might constitute an advantage.

You are part of a professional and committed team of 5-10 young, local, expert engineers, who work together on the digitalisation of customers across the energy sector in the Netherlands. Your location will be in our office in Arnhem city center.
