Overview
We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our Technology team at LAIKA, the world-renowned stop motion studio celebrated for its innovative storytelling and cutting-edge animation techniques. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, and operation of the studio’s network infrastructure, ensuring that both on-premises and cloud networks are available, secure, high-performing, and resilient.
Working collaboratively with Technology leaders, engineers, and support teams, you will optimize network performance, enhance security, and implement scalable solutions to support LAIKA’s creative and operational needs. Your expertise will help maintain and evolve our network architecture, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive automation to improve efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Network Administration & Performance:
- Configure and manage all aspects of the enterprise network across multiple sites, including VLANs, routing, firewalls, VPNs, Wi-Fi, VoIP, access control, redundancy, and load balancing.
- Monitor network health and performance, ensuring optimal availability and security.
- Forecast future network performance and capacity requirements to support studio growth.
- Maintain firmware and software updates for network devices, tracking new releases and performing upgrades.
Security & Infrastructure Management:
- Implement firewall policies and security best practices to protect against cyber threats.
- Work with Technology vendors to resolve support issues and evaluate new network products.
- Install and configure wired and wireless network devices and servers to meet evolving business needs.
- Maintain and enhance Arista CloudVision, AGNI, and multi-site VLAN environment.
Automation & Documentation:
- Develop automation tools to streamline network administration, eliminate bottlenecks, and improve observability.
- Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including configurations, workflows, and procedures.
Qualifications
Experience & Background:
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise network and/or systems engineering.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise network topologies and technologies.
- Expertise in routing and switching protocols, including PIM and IGMP for multicast traffic.
- Experience working with high-performance scale-out compute and storage infrastructures (preferred).
Technical Skills:
- Hands-on experience with Arista CloudVision or Cisco Campus.
- Deep understanding of UDP as a Layer 4 mechanism (for accelerated content delivery) and VXLAN environments.
- Strong knowledge of firewall technologies, preferably Palo Alto.
- In-depth understanding of enterprise IT operations and support practices.
Certifications:
- CCNA or CCNP required, CCIE preferred (or equivalent certification from Arista).
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, such as data centers and server closets.

On-site in Hillsboro, OR, and eligible for hybrid work.
