Job Description

Join the Risk and Identity (RaIS) team as a Sr. Manager for Risk Platform and Product development group. We're a Value-Added Services Technology function dedicated to safeguarding the security and integrity of the payments ecosystem. This role is pivotal in shaping the strategy, design, and deployment of risk programs and adapting them as the payment and threat landscapes evolve. The position requires a collaborative leader, who can work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver these programs and ensure they align with Visa's business strategy and its growth.

As a Sr. Manager in Risk and Identity Solutions technology team, you will pave the way for our most important asset, our engineers, to deliver amazing features with highest quality. You understand the business imperatives tied to these strategic projects. You provide technology leadership and are the technical expert on strategic projects, drive the release strategy and guide the delivery of strategic projects aligned to business strategy. You maintain awareness of dependencies between projects and delivery vision, while ensuring engineering excellence to the five nines. You build the strategy for your teams to architect, design and deliver the next wave of enterprise FinTech innovation.


Essential Functions:

We expect our Sr. Manager to do much more than just managing multiple teams

  • Help our client to achieve their real goals by understanding the requirements and how it would help them in their business.
  • Proven ability to define needs, develop plans, coordinate resources, and implement action plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously & to resolve scheduling & other conflicts to meet all deadlines.
  • Experience with a variety of development methodologies and mature understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of each. Solid experience with Agile methods is a plus.
  • Superior verbal, written & interpersonal communication skills with both technical & non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in coaching engineers both on technical and career development
  • Excellent team player, with strong collaboration skills and ability to influence cross-functional team for results
  • Focus on building a collaborative team environment
  • Expertise of Core Java-J2EE technologies, REST and Container and cloud based technologies.
  • Experience in or familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g. React/Redux, TypeScript etc.)
  • Expertise in JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • Hands on leader who can evaluate and develop PoCs for new technologies adopting GenAI
  • Develop and nurture the engineering team by hiring critical talent, driving retention, motivating, and mentoring staff, and driving career growth for team members. Build an inclusive team culture, and a culture of ownership and accountability.
  • Make a positive impact in RaIS team and foster innovation and explore new technologies such as Gen AI.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
  • Experience in commercial software development on Unix/Linux environment.
  • Experience in Java/J2EE technologies, Container, Cloud and database technologies
  • Experience in or familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React/Redux, TypeScript etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Experience in setting and tracking technical goals, SLAs, and KPIs.
  • Excellent leadership and team building skills.
  • Experience in navigating complex organizations to identify and meet business and customer needs.
  • Proficiency with Agile methodologies and software development lifecycle principles.
  • Proven experience delivering large-scale, highly available production software.
  • Strong technical experience in Java/J2EE, Microservices, big data Hadoop ecosystems, open systems, React / Angular JS
  • Technical experience with Big Data Technologies, with a focus on Spark with Java or Scala.
  • Expertise with Java 8 or higher, Spring, Spring boot, caching, streaming pipelines.
  • Payment industry experience is a plus.
