Role Summary
The Senior Manager of Forecasting Insights is responsible for developing forecasts for one or more products within Pfizer's Oncology portfolio. This role plays a key part in translating insights and analytics into revenue forecasts that support commercial strategy, brand planning, and investment decisions. The Senior Manager will collaborate with other verticals within Oncology Commercial Analytics like Market Research Insights and Data Science & Analytics as well as with cross-functional partners like Finance and Manufacturing to ensure the accuracy and alignment of forecasts.
Key Responsibilities:
Forecast Development and Management
- Model Creation: Develop complex forecasting models for one or more products incorporating market share projections, performance data, pricing factors, and competitive intelligence to generate accurate short- and long-term forecasts.
- Forecasting Approaches: Utilize appropriate methodologies as directed, including epidemiology-based models, statistical trend analysis, and scenario planning, to triangulate commercial opportunities and assess risks.
- Continuous Refinement: Update and refine forecasts based on new data, market conditions, and internal performance reviews. Ensure that assumptions reflect current market dynamics and adjust models as needed.
Data Analysis and Insights
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with key stakeholders (Market Research, Finance, Data Science & Analytics, Global Value Access, and Brand Teams) to ensure all relevant data points are integrated into forecasting models, including pricing strategies, sales performance, and gross-to-net factors.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor actual performance against forecasts, identify key variances, and fine-tune assumptions to improve forecasting accuracy.
- Insight Generation: Synthesize forecast outputs into clear, actionable insights that support decision-making processes (e.g., product launch planning, resource allocation) for brand teams and senior leadership.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Communication and Presentation: Present forecasts and strategic implications, ensuring that insights are communicated clearly and effectively. Provide perspective on commercial opportunities, risks, and trade-offs.
- Alignment: Collaborate with global and US franchise leaders to align on forecast assumptions, share insights, and obtain executive approval for forecasts and related strategic decisions.
- Support for Corporate Processes: Provide revenue forecasts as input for corporate processes such as annual planning and long-range strategic planning, collaborating with Finance.
- Manufacturing Coordination: Work with Manufacturing to translate demand forecasts into production schedules, ensuring alignment between sales forecasts and operational planning.
- Starting Point of Contact: Serve as Starting Point of Contact for Analytics for stakeholders including appropriate brand leads, able to represent the capabilities of various Oncology Commercial Analytics groups and guide appropriate involvement.
Goal Setting
- Sales Force Goals: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to set national sales force goals based on forecasted demand and commercial targets.
Forecasting Innovation
- Methodology Innovation: Implement new and innovative forecasting approaches, leveraging statistical models and advanced analytics to enhance forecasting accuracy and efficiency.
- Tools and Technologies: Stay up-to-date on new forecasting and data management tools, x, and introduce advanced data manipulation and analysis techniques to improve forecast outcomes.
Vendor and Resource Management
- Vendor Partnerships: Coordinate relationships with external forecasting vendors and data partners, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality forecasting solutions. Facilitate competitive bid processes, contract awards, and performance reviews for vendor partners.
- Resource Allocation: Monitor the effective allocation of resources, managing budgets and timelines for forecasting projects without compromising the quality of deliverables.
Compliance and Governance
- Forecast Integrity: Ensure that all forecasts are developed in compliance with Pfizer's internal protocols and industry regulations. Collaborate with legal, compliance, and finance teams to ensure adherence to governance standards.
Basic Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, mathematics, statistics, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years total work experience with 4+ years of biopharmaceutical experience in forecasting, market research, analytics, management consulting, or investment banking, with demonstrated expertise in advanced forecasting methodologies.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in building and managing Excel-based forecasting models, with experience in quantitative analysis and data manipulation.
- Oncology Knowledge: Experience in oncology forecasting, with an understanding of the disease area, market dynamics, and competitive landscape.
- Cross-Functional Experience: Proven ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams, including finance, marketing, and operations, in a matrixed organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pharmaceutical Forecasting Experience: Prior pharmaceutical forecasting experience, with proficiency in developing forecasts for in-market and pipeline products using methodologies such as epidemiology-based models or trend-based forecasting.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of advanced statistical tools (e.g., SAS, R, Alteryx, Dataiku) with some exposure to forecasting procedures
- Advanced Degree: MBA or advanced degree (Ph.D, Masters) in a related field is preferred.

- Adaptability: Ability to manage ambiguity, prioritize competing demands, and adapt forecasts quickly in response to changing market conditions.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $120,800.00 to $201,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
