Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Legal Manager to oversee and streamline legal matters across our operations in 8 countries. This role is pivotal in ensuring legal compliance, mitigating risks, and driving cost-efficient legal operations while consolidating legal insights from multiple subsidiaries.

The position holder will lead and coordinate a team of local legal managers and legal counsels, ensuring alignment with global legal standards and business objectives. This role reports directly to the VP Legal & GRC.

WHAT’S ON YOUR PLATE?

Legal Strategy, Governance & Compliance

• Oversee and support Market Legal Managers in the implementation of regional legal strategies.

• Ensure the effective application of legal policies, decision-making processes and corporate governance policies in place

• Oversee and support Market Legal Managers in regulatory and laws compliance, and risk mitigation.

Contract Management & Commercial Transactions

• Review with the Market Legal Managers high-value or high-risk contracts to ensure compliance with company policies.

• Oversee legal due diligence by Market Legal Managers for business expansion efforts.

• Track day-to-day request performance (ONIT), to ensure timely and effective legal support.

Litigation & Regulatory Oversight

• Oversee litigation and regulatory investigations efforts, working with Market Legal Managers and external counsel, and review and evaluate legal strategies.

• Report major legal disputes and regulatory issues to the General Counsel, providing consolidated regional updates.

• Support the Market Legal Managers in reporting, to the Company’s management and stakeholders, any potential legal risks associated with any material lawsuit and/or regulatory investigation & providing strategic recommendations for compliance and legal risk mitigation.

• Lead crisis response efforts for regulatory investigations and high-impact litigation.

External Counsel & Budget Oversight

• Manage external law firm’s retainers and legal fees, to align with the legal department's budgetary limits.

• Optimize the use of external law firms, negotiating competitive rates to manage litigation expenses.

Team Leadership & Regional Coordination

• Provide guidance and oversight to Market Legal Managers to maintain consistency in legal approaches.

• Act as a key POC between local markets and the General Counsel.

• Coordinate with the Regional Manager of Commercial laws & Regulatory, Capital Market & Corporate Governance Manager, Data protection, Fintech, and other specialized functions to implement company-wide legal initiatives in the markets.

Qualifications

WHAT DID WE ORDER?

Key Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: Law degree (LLB/Llm, or equivalent) with professional certification or bar admission in at least one jurisdiction within the region (would be a plus)

• Experience: 10+ years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role covering multiple jurisdictions.

• Industry Knowledge: Experience in corporate law, compliance, commercial transactions, and regulatory matters within a multinational environment.

• Leadership & Management: Proven ability to lead and manage legal teams across multiple countries.

• Communication & Negotiation: Strong negotiation skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior executives, regulators, and external stakeholders.

• Strategic Thinking & Cost Efficiency: Ability to balance legal risk with business objectives while ensuring cost-effective legal operations.
