Job Summary:

Reporting to the Multi-Site HR Manager, the Sr. HR Generalist plays a key role in supporting HR functions within a unionized manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for assisting with employee relations, labor relations, recruitment, compliance, and HR administration to ensure a productive and legally compliant work environment. The HR Generalist serves as a liaison between employees, management, and the union, fostering positive working relationships while upholding company policies and labor agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

Employee & Labor Relations:

  • Assist in managing union relations, interpreting and enforcing collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), and assist in tracking grievances.
  • Provide guidance to supervisors and managers on labor policies, disciplinary actions, and performance management in alignment with union agreements and company policy.
  • Assist in investigations into employee concerns, disputes, and complaints while ensuring timely resolution and documentation.

Recruitment & Onboarding:

  • Assist in recruiting, screening, and selecting candidates for plant and administrative roles, ensuring compliance with CBA hiring provisions.
  • Support new hire orientation and onboarding to ensure employees understand workplace policies, safety procedures, and union-related matters.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to develop job postings and selection criteria aligned with operational needs.

HR Compliance & Administration:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including FMLA, FLSA, ADA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain and update employee records, HRIS data, and personnel files in accordance with legal and company requirements.
  • Support benefits administration, including employee enrollment, eligibility tracking, and responding to inquiries.
  • Assist in audits and reporting requirements related to employment, safety, and labor compliance.

Training & Development:

  • Support training programs related to workplace safety, labor relations, anti-harassment, diversity, and leadership development.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions for employees and supervisors to enhance engagement and compliance.

HR Projects & Initiatives:

  • Contribute to HR process improvements and workforce engagement initiatives.
  • Participate in HR-related projects such as policy updates, compensation reviews, and employee recognition programs.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting with a unionized workforce.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills.
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong knowledge of labor laws, CBAs, and HR best practices.
    • Workday and UKG experience a plus

Work Environment:

  • Primarily office-based with regular visits to manufacturing areas.
  • May require occasional travel for training or meetings
  • Must be able to work in an industrial environment with exposure to manufacturing operations.
