Make Your Mark:
Looking to amplify your impact to the business? BlackLine is seeking an experienced Sr. FP&A Adaptive and Operations Manager to facilitate the finance side administration of the Adaptive planning system, optimize the forecast process, and enable our finance team to adopt AI tools and practices. In this role, you will have the ability to significantly improve the productivity of the entire FP&A team, lead change, and lay the foundation for next generation forecasting as BlackLine continues to scale for growth. You should have a strong understanding of finance and budgeting processes, strong technical skills, experience administering Adaptive, and the ability to work collaboratively with various teams, ensuring the effective use of the Adaptive platform across the organization.
You'll Get To:
System Administration
- Ensure optimal functionality and performance of the Adaptive Planning platform.
- Administer execution of scenarios including regular forecast lock as well as ad hoc scenario models including M&A hypotheses, compensation scenarios, and alternate allocation methodologies.
- Manage allocation models and calculations in Adaptive.
- Support acquisition integration as needed.
- Handle user access, permissions, and security roles to ensure proper access control across teams.
- Support system upgrades, patches, and new feature rollouts by collaborating with our IT development team, contribute to impact analysis, educate users about new feature rollouts, and update related business processes.
Data Management
- Import and export financial data to and from the system as required.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of data within the Adaptive system, collaborating with finance teams for timely updates.
- Management of alternate hierarchies of master data for business purposes such as the operating P&L categorization, management business hierarchy, regional rollups, and post-acquisition reporting.
- Support the rollout of new hierarchies including pre-change element creation, pre-change hierarchy modeling, and post-change coordination with Accounting to ensure Adaptive syncs with actual hierarchies and changes as needed.
- Partner with finance teams to understand business drivers to determine what inputs should be captured in Adaptive to enable AI-driven forecasting and collaborate with IT to bring the right level of data into Adaptive for this purpose.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Support the finance team with the preparation and management of the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes within the Adaptive platform.
- Manage and drive discipline around the forecast process calendar.
- Assist with building, maintaining, and troubleshooting financial models, templates, and reports.
User Training and Support
- Provide ongoing user support and training for finance team members and other stakeholders in using Adaptive.
- Act as the point of contact for troubleshooting and resolving forecast process issues.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with various departments, such as Accounting, HR, and Operations, to ensure the alignment of financial data and system needs across the organization.
- Work closely with IT to ensure system reliability, troubleshoot any technical issues, and drive system improvements.
Process Optimization

- Optimize the forecast process schedule to ensure upstream inputs are provided ahead of downstream calculations; collaborate with teams to optimize timing for accuracy and executability.
- Continuously look for opportunities to improve and automate processes within the Adaptive system to drive efficiency.
- Provide recommendations for system enhancements based on business needs and emerging industry best practices.
What You'll Bring:
- 2+ years of experience administering or supporting Adaptive Planning within an FP&A team
- Strong understanding of financial planning and analysis processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Bachelor's degree in information systems, a business function such as accounting or finance, or a related field
We're Even More Excited If You Have:
- 4+ years of experience in similar or peripheral roles (FP&A, systems administration, etc.) preferred
- Proficiency with Adaptive Planning
- Strong Excel skills and experience with financial modeling
- Familiarity with SQL or other database management tools is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experience writing standard operating procedures or developing user training materials is a plus
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively across various teams

Salary Range:
USD $171,000.00 - USD $214,000.00
Pay Transparency Statement:
Placement within this range depends upon several factors, including the applicant's prior relevant job experience, skill set, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, BlackLine also offers short-term and long-term incentive programs, based on eligibility, along with a robust offering of benefit and wellness plans.
