Job Description

The Senior DevOps Engineer works across the Product Engineering Team to foster and build a DevOps culture of cross-collaboration by working with each team to design and implement secure automated solutions for development, testing, and production environments. The primary focus of this position is on automation of: ● Infrastructure provisioning (Infrastructure as Code (IaC) through Ansible, Go and Terraform), ● Code and test development ● Software package deployments ● Operational processesThe right candidate thinks about the big picture and is ready to influence, partner and guide teams through a modernization journey, embracing cloud platform technologies, containerization, and CI/CD, as well as assisting in enhancing and strengthening processes and procedures as part of Privia’s continuous growth journey. The candidate should also have experience working within an environment that has evolved from start-up into a more mature organization with the right governance in place.

  • Infrastructure Management: Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure infrastructure using cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate software builds, testing, and deployment processes, ensuring faster and reliable releases.
  • Monitoring & Logging: Implement monitoring and logging solutions to track system performance, detect issues proactively, and ensure high availability of applications and services.
  • Configuration Management: Use configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) to automate and manage system configurations, deployments, and updates across environments.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of development processes and improve overall system reliability.
  • Security Best Practices: Advocate for and implement security best practices across the development lifecycle, including vulnerability assessments and compliance checks.
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for production issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of infrastructure configurations, processes, and workflows to support knowledge sharing and operational excellence.
  • Performance Optimization: Analyze system performance and capacity, making recommendations for optimizations and improvements to ensure efficient resource utilization.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior DevOps engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Strong background in modernization leveraging cloud-native technologies hosted on a cloud platform (GCP preferably but will consider AWS and Azure), microservice event-driven architecture and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes/GKE)
  • 5+ years of experience of DevOps culture on a distributed Agile environment and implementation of a CI/CD pipeline to deploy web-based and mobile applications
  • 5+ years of solid experience with Ansible and Terraform and fluency in at least one scripting language Go and/or Python
  • Experience working and/or administering DevOps Tools/Frameworks including:
    • Repositories: GitHub, BitBucket, GitLab
    • Test frameworks: unittest, rspec, serverspec, chefspec, kitchen-ci, puppet-rspec, beaker
    • Deployment on Public/Private Clouds: Jenkins, Circle CI
    • Container Orchestration/Management: Docker, Kubernetes
    • Container Security: Twistlock, Cloud Insights
    • Static Code Analysis: SonarQube, DeepSource
    • SecOps: Blackduck, CheckMarx
    • Telemetry: Grafana, Prometheus, ELK Stack
  • Strong Linux (Ubuntu) and Windows operations skills including administering and securing operating system, tools and applications such as Apache, SQL Server, mySQL and Ruby on Rails from internal and external threat
  • Must be willing and able to communicate with the team via webcam, webconf, and phone.
  • Must have access to private, quiet work space with high-speed internet to effectively work remotely
  • Must be able to travel for team-offsites twice per year and to attend vendor meetings directly related to the position in person.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-location, cross-functional team with a wide range of experience levels
  • Ability to influence others and obtain support/buy-in for ideas presented
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) necessary to effectively interact with engineers, product owners, and team members seated around the world
  • Adaptable and flexible, and able to manage competing priorities
  • Have an eye for the details bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Be present on our team - we have a robust virtual culture - webcams on! Be willing to travel 3-5 times a year for team and vendor events.

The salary range for this role is $118,000.00 - $139,000.00 in base pay and exclusive of any bonuses or benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, and pet insurance, 401K, paid time off, and other wellness programs). This role is also eligible for an annual bonus targeted at 15% and restricted stock units. The base pay offered will be determined based on relevant factors such as experience, education, and geographic location.

In order to successfully work remotely, supporting our patients and providers, we require a minimum of 5 MBPS for Download Speed and 3 MBPS for the Upload Speed.
