The Sr. Customer Quality Engineer provides quality leadership to Tier 2 and below Automotive and Commercial Vehicle customers by serving as liaison between BorgWarner and the customer on quality deliverables and expectations. Leads communications that ensure BorgWarner cross functional team alignment with respect to customers. Conducts business with customers in professional manner that facilitates a positive customer experience and establishes goodwill between BorgWarner, our suppliers, and our customers. Works closely with BorgWarner Supply Chain to achieve world class cost, quality, and delivery from our suppliers.
In addition, may perform assignments of an advanced professional nature requiring full use and application of quality engineering methods which may include planning, directing, and supervising activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality systems and employees for ensuring processed materials and finished products meet design intent and customer specifications.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the monitoring of customer feedback on product technical issues and their resolution.
  • Proactively evaluate customer requirements and deliver strategic feedback.
  • Support of the supplier development system.
  • Generate technical documentation in collaboration with the engineering department.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive technical training programs for partners, resellers, distributors, FSPs, and field technicians, empowering them to become proficient trainers themselves.
  • Assist in maintaining the IAFT 16949 certification.
  • Assist in conducting audits of the quality system.
  • Participate in design reviews.
  • Maintain multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Perform other quality related assignments as directed by management.
  • Think and act like an owner/entrepreneur. Identify and react to all opportunities that promote the Company’s ability to provide value to shareholders, customers, and employees.
  • Promote our philosophy that all employees are responsible for the quality of the product or eservice that they provide.
  • Interfaces with all disciplines to ensure that quality systems are established and maintained to provide customers with quality products and assist in vendor compliance to applicable CSR’s.
  • Maintain customer specific portals as assigned.
  • Engage in occasional travel across Europe and internationally to tackle complex field support cases, with travel accounting for up to 30%.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Five plus years of experience in Quality/Engineering related activity in an IATF 16949 compliant manufacturing environment
  • Training or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive customer portals and their specific requirements. (CSR’s)
