Title: Sr.Cloud Architect,Data Engineering & GenAI
Location: Rochester, NY; hybrid candidates with 10% travel required
The objective of the Role: Sr. Cloud Architect will be a key technical resource, responsible for helping our customers successfully utilize AWS data and AI tools to grow their businesses and create new revenue streams. You will have a deep understanding of AWS data engineering and AI/ML services, with particular expertise in generative AI implementations and best practices.
Top candidates will have the following:
1. Technical depth in AWS data engineering services and generative AI implementations
2. Proven experience leading GenAI projects from conception to production
3. Natural proclivity for translating complex technical concepts to business stakeholders
4. Ability to design and implement scalable, production-grade data pipelines and AI solutions
5. Strong customer obsession with the ability to empathize with and address business needs
6. Track record of mentoring junior architects and engineers
7. Experience working with cross-functional teams in high-velocity environments
8. Innovative mindset with the ability to identify new opportunities and solutions
9. Exceptional problem-solving skills with a focus on business outcomes
Required Experience for the Role:
1. Must have minimum of 7+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or related cloud architecture roles
2. Must have AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
3. Must have 3+ years of direct experience with AWS data services including Glue, Redshift, EMR, Kinesis, S3, and RDS
4. Must have 2+ years of experience with AI/ML implementations, with at least 1 year focused on generative AI solutions
5. Must have demonstrated experience leading the design and implementation of large-scale data engineering projects
6. Must have strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance requirements
7. Must have experience with data modeling and ETL/ELT processes
8. Must have practical knowledge of at least one programming language commonly used in data engineering (Python, Scala, etc.)
Preferred Experience for the Role:
1. AWS Data Analytics or Machine Learning Specialty certification
2. Experience implementing AWS Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker, or other generative AI services
3. Background in implementing data mesh or data fabric architectures
4. Familiarity with vector databases and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) patterns
Responsibilities, including success measures and KPIs:
1. Engaging with potential customers to understand their current state and applications and designing data engineering and GenAI solutions that will meet their requirements
2. Creating and delivering detailed implementation plans, including timelines, and detailed technical guidance for the customer
3. Architecting and overseeing implementation of scalable, production-ready data pipelines and generative AI solutions
4. Leading technical discovery workshops and proof-of-concept initiatives
5. Providing guidance on best practices for using AWS data, analytics, and AI/ML services and how they can be integrated with the customer's existing stack
6. Acting as an organizational consultant to customers, guiding them on how cloud-based data engineering and generative AI will transform their business
7. Developing procedures and standards for the AWS Data Engineering and GenAI Practice
8. Working with the Product team to refine and create new service offerings for the market
9. Mentoring junior architects and engineers on data engineering and AI best practices
10. Leading the evaluation of new AWS services and features related to data engineering and AI/ML
