About the Opportunity

Driscoll’s is the leading supplier of fresh berries in the world. To kick off the supply chain input to Driscoll’s fruit production, Driscoll’s Nursery Operations propagates plants to supply to its independent growers. Furthermore, from time to time, Driscoll’s also financially invests in the farming operations of many of its independent growers. The DOTA Nursery Accounting team is responsible for the accounting business support to these extremely critical areas of the business.
This position is responsible for the nursery accounting and support activities in the North America region, primarily U.S. This role will work directly with our Nursery Operations teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting. This person will be responsible for the close process and ensures all deadlines are met. This role will participate in internal and external audits. This position will continuously work with operations teams, accounting teams, as well as cross functional work groups, building strong relationships across the company. The Sr. Nursery Accountant will develop solutions to complex problems, recommend best practices, manage multiple priorities, connect the interdependencies between Operations, Finance, Accounting and cross functional work groups. May lead projects or project teams. The ideal candidate will be someone with strong communication skills, ability to build relationships across cross functional groups, has a strong attention to detail and works well in a team environment.

 Responsibilities

•    Prepares month-end, quarter-end and year-end, as well as any ad hoc journal entries
•    Prepares Balance Sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis
•    Responsible for preparing supporting audit schedules
•    Prepares assigned segment of Monthly Financial Reporting Packages to be utilized by Business Unit and Finance leadership
•    Drives change through support of Nursery Operations members and teams by providing transactional coding guidance, ensuring appropriate accounting treatment of transactions and reporting of operational spend
•    Performs ad hoc Nursery Accounting and management reporting 
•    Performs maintenance of ledger accounts and records in accordance with U.S. GAAP and Driscoll’s accounting policies
•    Prepares variance, flux and trend analysis and related commentary
•    Leads aspects of consolidation for specific subsidiaries as assigned
•    Identify process improvement opportunities, drive improvement action plans in collaboration with business leaders

    Candidate Profile

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent-Required
•    5+ years of experience in accounting roles
•    Strong cost accounting skillset to include experience with Internal Controls, Agricultural/cost accounting is a plus
•    GL Reconciliations
•    Experience using Oracle/Microsoft Dynamics AX/Other ERP
•    Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
•    Spanish is a plus, not required
•    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment (multiple priorities & deadlines)
•    Proactive engagement of business issues combined with thoughtful solutions (problem-solving skills).
•    Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with other area
•    Ability to work in a multicultural organization
•    Ability to work well in a team environment

Compensation & Benefits:

The following information is provided in good faith as a general description of the salary range and benefits for the position posted.  The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate is dependent upon experience, skills, education, work location, internal pay equity, and other objective job-related factors.

Salary Range estimated for the Sr. Accountant, Nursery: $85,000 to $100,000 USD.
