Purpose:
The Senior Accountant, GAAP Reporting position will report to the Director GAAP Reporting, and collaborate with peers and leaders across the organization to manage and execute financial processes independently.
Accountabilities:
- Analyze financial results by researching and resolving variances and inconsistencies in financial statements using standard accounting techniques and practices
- Lead projects related to financial reporting, focusing on the implementation of standalone reporting
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve mutual objectives and support problem-solving initiatives
- Prepare work papers, conduct data analysis, and aggregate information for annual external audits and examinations
- Contribute to SEC and GAAP reporting processes
- Coordinate and develop GAAP ledger infrastructure and reports
- Implement GAAP accounting policies for new business transactions
- Support additional finance projects as assigned
Qualifications and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in GAAP accounting and reporting; experience in the insurance industry is preferred.
- Oracle, Essbase, and Hyperion experience is preferred
- Familiarity with Workiva’s Wdesk solution is preferred
- CPA and/or FLMI designations completed or in progress is preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to draw conclusions from research and report findings effectively
- Proficient with MS Office products, including Excel and Word
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience
