We are building up the platform https://developer.axis.com for providing developers with all the information they need: API documentation, getting-started guides, tutorials, etc.  Our Developer Offering team is looking for an experienced software engineer to help shape a world-class developer experience.

Who is your future team?

Developer offering is a small team of senior, ambitious, and extremely passionate engineers who know what developers need to be creative and efficient, and who are determined to make sure Axis offer meets that, making our cameras the natural choice for anyone building vision-based systems.

Axis devices offer multiple APIs for developers, on both device OS level, on the local network, and in the cloud. Developer offering team works both strategically and operationally to provide a good developer experience around all of these APIs. We keep a keen eye on how big players like AWS and Microsoft Azure market themselves to developers and take inspiration from their work.

On the strategic level we make sure that the organization is set up to empower both API development teams and API users to contribute and enhance documentation. On the operational level, we build the Developer Documentation pages ourselves using modern open source tools, which means a lot of freedom and independence.

What you'll do here as a Software Developer?

As a member of the Developer Offering team, you will drive initiatives that impact both our external and internal stakeholders. Externally, you will focus on creating an exceptional developer journey for our external developers, whether through documentation or interactive experiences. You will get to know them, understanding their needs and the challenges they face.
Internally, you will act as an advocate for the external developers, ensuring that decisions made within Axis benefit them. You will drive initiatives that challenge the organization to re-evaluate current practices and tools, striving for continuous improvement. Your goal will be to optimize the speed and quality of the value Axis delivers to our external developers.

Who are we looking for?

You are a seasoned Software Engineer, preferably with diverse experience using multiple languages/tech stacks and from different organizations. To complement the rest of the team we prefer that you are experienced in web development (we're using React).

You are curious about new technology and keep a close eye on software development trends.

You are a self-starter who can both come up with ideas of what to do, get others excited about them, and make them happen through a combination of your own work and help of others.

We can offer you a creative role with big potential to make an impact on the future of Axis. You will be able to both drive strategic efforts and do hands-on coding on a daily basis.

We'd love to hear that you have/are:

• Experienced web developer: Proficiency in web development, with a preference for expertise in React
• Broad technological knowledge: Possess a wide-ranging understanding of various technologies
• Customer-centric perspective: Always consider the customer's viewpoint and aim to enhance their experience
• Passion for developer experience: Shows a strong enthusiasm for improving the experience of fellow developers
• Results-oriented: Demonstrates a strong ability to get things done efficiently and effectively
• Communication skills: Able to convey ideas clearly and effectively in both written and verbal forms
• Presentation skills: Comfortable and proficient in presenting ideas and information to various audiences
• Networking mindset: Skilled in building and maintaining professional relationships within and outside the organization

It's a bonus if you also have prior experience with:

• Knowledge dissemination, e.g. through teaching, writing a blog, youtube channel etc.
• Contributing to open source projects
• Axis products and ecosystem
