The Software Engineer-II designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Contribute to maintenance of an existing Jakarta EE application with proprietary backend (Servlet, HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, proprietary procedure language, XML, JSON, TCP/IP, FTP)

Participate in maintaining and applying the DevOps environment (Maven, Ant, Jenkins, Artifactory, git, Bitbucket, Jira) as well as mastering the product environment (z/OS, TSO, JCL, Linux)

Learning and apply proprietary concepts and programming languages of the product

Understand end-user requirements

Write commercial/enterprise-grade software

Provide input on designs for software enhancements and new products

Ability to identify the presence of code problems, analyze and prepare solutions for discussion with senior engineers

Document and communicate on technical topics without direction

Seek to shadow other Engineers; working to debug customer issues

Work under limited direction of a manager and/or team lead to implement software enhancements, correct defects, and/or create new products

Proficient at programming while working in a team

Self-directed learning of the application subject matter

Required Qualifications:
-
Minimum of 2+ years of software engineering experience
-
Experience in one or more programming languages like Java, Javascript, HLASM
-
Ability to analyze existing software
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Can-do attitude

Curiosity and asking "why"

Experience with Rocket’s Manager Products, ASG Manager Products or MSP DataManager is a plus
-
Experience in Mainframe z/OS environment, JCL, DB2 is a plus
-
Knowledge of TCP/IP, client server and, HTML is a plus
Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
