Introduction to the team
Would you like to help millions of people plan their travel and create memories to last a lifetime? The Trips Experience Engineering mission is to inspire and delight travelers with engaging experiences to plan, book, and enjoy complete trips. This role will be responsible for driving the adoption of our multi-product (hotels, flights, car rentals, activities, packages, and vacation rental) saving capabilities, partnering across the organization to build more entry points into our trip ecosystem. We create experiences across Web, iOS, and Android and support all of our Expedia Group brands. We believe in strong partnerships, iterative high-quality delivery, and continuous improvement.
In this role, you will:

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable products and solutions, ensuring high-quality, clean, maintainable, and well-documented code across the full technology stack.
• Work collaboratively with all members of the technical staff and other partners to build and ship outstanding software in a fast-paced environment
• Identify opportunities for process and technology improvements, and work toward adoption and implementation.
• Assist in supporting production systems, including investigating issues and working toward resolutions.
• Exercise creativity and provide alternative solutions to a given problem removing roadblocks and driving issues to closure
• Create and update documentation to share knowledge between team members.
• Actively participate in group technology reviews to critique your work and the work of others.
• Participate in user story creation in partnership with the team(s)
• Improve platform stability by identifying and addressing issues.
• Collaborate to implement solutions that integrate people, processes, and technology

 
Experience and qualifications:

• Bachelor's or master’s in computer science or related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience
• 4+ years of experience in the field of Software Engineering.
• A self-starter with an appetite for solving problems through the development and engineering of resilient and capable systems.
• Proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), with a strong understanding of Data Structures, Algorithms, and Computer Science fundamentals.
• Experience with Java/Kotlin and Spring MVC, with a solid grasp of OO design and design patterns.
• Knowledge of GraphQL is an added advantage.
• Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
• Expertise in testing, monitoring tools, and observability fundamentals such as metrics, logging, and tracing.
• Proficiency in CI/CD frameworks to automate builds, tests, and deployments.
• Experience with developer tools like GitHub and CICD tools.
• Knowledge of service mesh technologies like Istio and Linkerd is a plus.
