The Role: Senior Upstream Commercial Specialist, Japan & Korea.
The Team: The Upstream Commercial Specialist is responsible for the customer experience and revenue growth of clients and prospects in Japan and Korea. The role sits with Upstream Specialist team in APAC. This role requires close co-ordination with the Sales Teams, Marketing team, Client Services, Content teams and Product teams. They will join a successful and well-established team where we have seen growth stemming from both the opportunities and challenges that exist in Upstream and related industries.
The Impact: This role plays a critical part in the continued growth of our Upstream revenues in Japan and Korea. Significant opportunity exists, both in terms of upsell and growth potential within our client base across Upstream value chain. The role will play an important part in enhancing and expanding our awareness within the accounts and creating new opportunities for growth.

The candidate will collaborate and build relationships across the commercial and analytics teams within the region to support with their plans and ensure they are executed with success and in a timely manner. These will consist of both improved engagement with existing clients but also a new logo acquisition strategy, meaning the opportunity to visit clients and attend industry events to expand the network will be critical. The candidate will be part of an experienced and close group that will provide clear and regular training and support to guide the individual through the first few months, to ensure they are up to speed quickly and confident with what we do across the upstream value chain, how we connect with other industries, and most importantly how we help our clients.
Responsibilities:
- This position will primarily be responsible for achieving net-sales and customer experience targets for Upstream clients in Japan and Korea.
- Research, pre-qualify and engage with prospects developing a hypothesis about their needs and an insight-led approach of engagement.
- Identify and cultivate a diverse pipeline of opportunities for Upstream Solutions across all segments of clients in Japan and Korea.
- Support relationships with clients at all levels to ensure they utilize our content and obtain the maximum value from their service.
- Collect client feedback to be shared with the Upstream Product Management teams. Assist product team to understand client needs.
- Responsibilities also include direct client engagements and leading efforts at Commodity Insights hosted events.
What We’re Looking For:
- Must hold bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 10 years of B2B sales with a track-record of achieving revenue targets, developing new markets, and maintaining a high-level of customer satisfaction.
- Direct experience of working with Oil & Gas clients an advantage
- Passion for energy, commodities, and energy transitions
- Solution-selling background
- Driven by commercial growth.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and CRM Systems like Salesforce
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrate strong relationship building with customers, markets, and internal stakeholders. Strong verbal and written skills are required to enable effective communications at all levels within the company and with customers.
- Great team player
- Ability to travel 20-30% within the territory.
