Responsibilities
• Capture, document and prioritize product requirements with stakeholders from various other departments including Operations, Finance, Marketing
• Conduct with a very high degree of autonomy technical analyses to identify approaches to solve business problems and propose solutions based on the Platforms key concepts
• Maintain a healthy backlog of features for developers by assembling clear and precise backlog items for developers, QAs, DevOps, etc.
• Act as a SME on the portfolio products within IT and for stakeholders – be the person the buck stops with when people question a portfolio platform capability
• Provide visibility and guidance to management on the Core Platforms roadmap implementation progress to the team as well as the wider IT Leadership group
• Work closely with assigned multi-function teams (product management, software development, operations, finance, etc.) to ensure we're building the best products
• Run scrum ceremonies with leadership and a team-player mindset
• Form a highly productive duo with the Engineering Manager on the portfolio products
• Proactively investigate inefficiencies in our systems / processes and suggest improvement opportunities
• Help support efforts to identify and remove technical debt in our existing systems
• Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a strong documentation corpus for all portfolio platforms
• Coach more junior POs and support the Product Manager, Core Platforms where possible
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Operations Management or equivalent practical experience
• 7+ years of product management in software environment and passion for solving complex problems – the ideal profile is someone with strong technical acumen and not afraid of conceptual discussions with software engineers
• Certified as Scrum Master or PMP (an asset)
• Experience in the Logistics Sector (an asset)
• Experience working with business platforms which include a web UI
• Experience with key product management, agile development principles
• Experience delivering complex technology products which require attention to detail
• Strong understanding of modern development practices and planning processes
• Exceptional organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to define, measure and analyze processes to identify improvement opportunities
• A strong taste for innovative projects and a will to learn new technologies / test out new ideas
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, etc.) and common development paradigms (git, APIs, etc.)
• Working knowledge of modern application architecture
• Solid documentation skills and backlog grooming skills
• Ability to drive the team to success and create bonds with developers, QA, etc.
