What You'll Do
Mimecast is seeking an experienced Sr. Systems Engineer who will be responsible for the design, planning, implementation, and support of our global IT Infrastructure. The successful candidate will have outstanding skills in the deployment and utilization of current Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server 2022, Active Directory, Office365, Exchange Online, and Microsoft SQL Server 2022. In addition, we’re looking for experience with the management of physical servers, SAN, Data Center Management, as well as familiarity with cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure and AWS. Knowledge of virtualization technologies like VMware or Hyper-V is also essential. You will be comfortable addressing user needs while maintaining a focus on governance and compliance, particularly in a global company environment. Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and experience with scripting for automation and monitoring will be advantageous.
Responsibilities:

Systems Administration: Manage, maintain, and monitor server infrastructure (Windows/Linux), ensuring high availability and optimal performance from a remote, global location.

Office 365 Administration: Oversee Office 365 services (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Azure AD), including user management, licensing, security, and troubleshooting for a geographically dispersed organization.

Security Management: Implement and maintain security protocols (firewalls, patch management, access control) to protect the IT environment in a distributed, international setting.

Performance Tuning: Optimize system performance through regular maintenance, monitoring, and resource management, leveraging tools like PowerShell for automation in a remote environment.

Troubleshooting and Support: Provide advanced troubleshooting for server, network, software, and Office 365 issues across multiple time zones and locations.

Automation and Scripting: Proficiently use PowerShell to develop scripts and automate processes, especially for Office 365 administration and Azure integration in a remote environment.

Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation for configurations, processes, and procedures, creating guides for the IT team and end-users that account for remote work and potential language barriers.

Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams (development, networking, security) across different time zones to ensure seamless integration of services and efficient issue resolution.
What You'll Bring:

Experience: 5-7 years of experience in systems administration, with a strong background in Windows and Linux environments, and at least 3 years of experience managing Office 365 services in a global or remote setting.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Certifications: Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or equivalent is highly desirable.

Technical Skills:

Strong proficiency in PowerShell for automation and scripting in a remote environment.

Experience with Exchange Hybrid deployments and Azure integration for g graphically dispersed organizations.

In-depth knowledge of VMware virtualization and its integration with Azure in a remote setting.

Proficiency in server hardware, storage solutions (Pure / Nimble / HPE), and networking fundamentals in a distributed environment.

Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and hybrid infrastructure for remote teams.

Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other core network services in a global context.

Experience with Office 365 administration, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Azure Active Directory for geographically dispersed organizations.

Experience with Veeam solutions in an enterprise level infrastructure

Strong understanding of security best practices and experience implementing security measures in a remote environment.

Familiarity with API integration and AI tools (a plus).

Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and troubleshoot complex issues in a remote setting.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with team members and stakeholders across different time zones and cultures.
