Meet Benevity
Benevity is the way the world does good, providing companies (and their employees) with technology to take social action on the issues they care about. Through giving, volunteering, grantmaking, employee resource groups and micro-actions, we help most of the Fortune 100 brands build better cultures and use their power for good. We’re also one of the first B Corporations in Canada, meaning we’re as committed to purpose as we are to profits. We have people working all over the world, including Canada, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States and more!
Benevity is looking for a Senior DevOps Developer to join our team. As an expert in end-to-end ownership, you'll leverage your deep knowledge of distributed systems and cloud-native infrastructure to participate in major initiatives that improve performance, scale, security, and technical maturity. An enthusiast in CI/CD, cloud deployment, and developer tooling, you'll continuously improve our infrastructure with a focus on reducing toil, and the modernization of our internal tools. Your ability to detect inefficiencies and proactively implement solutions will ensure our workflows are optimized, and that the team is able to focus on work that is driving value. What you’ll do:
- Manage, support and maintain cloud environments in AWS and GCP

- Assist and coach team members within your squad, and in other DevOps squads
- Design, plan, and influence the implementation of infrastructure and infrastructure delivery
- Build and maintain our library of Terraform modules, demonstrating and refining our ‘best practice’
- Create and manage telemetry tooling and dashboards, while acting as an advocate for understanding those metrics
- Lead production readiness and disaster recovery planning
- Work with squad leaders to review, scope, and refine inbound work and backlogs; evaluate service requests from other Benevity teams and determine what will be needed from
- Support web operations workflow automation using configuration management and continuous deployment frameworks
- Apply, and influence improvements to, service delivery best practices
- Demonstrate what a great teammate is, and mentor others in team culture
- Participate in incident response, blameless postmortems, and production improvements that result in direct business opportunities
- Participate in the DevOps on-call rotation to maintain Availability SLAs
- During onboarding, work with our Production Support team to learn the ins and outs of Benevity’s services and ecosystem
What you’ll bring:
- You’re driven by curiosity, not by having all the answers

- Working knowledge of a scripting / programming language that you have used for operations automation and / or application tooling
- Comfort with an outrageous number of acronyms

- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining SaaS platforms
- A fierce passion for availability, reliability, and short MTTR
- Automation skills: Step Functions, SSM Documents, AWS Lambda, EventBridge, etc.

- Demonstrated abilities implementing Infrastructure as Code / immutable infrastructure
- Demonstrated expertise with monitoring, metrics collection and log aggregation
- Demonstrated expertise with information security best practices and tools
- Demonstrated expertise with backup, replication, and disaster recovery strategies and tools
