Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer specialized in DevOps to join the Autodesk Informed Design team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background  in Infrastructure-as-a-Code (IaaC) using Terraform, combined with experience on the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins. In this role, the candidate will build pipeline infrastructure for AWS solutions (containerized and serverless) therefore, experience with core AWS services is a must. This role will also involve working directly with the Application and Services scrum teams on a JavaScript/TypeScript stack. The applicant should be familiar with an agile software development environment.

Informed Design is part of Autodesk’s Design and Make Platform environment, which includes cloud-connected software solutions that unite teams, data, and workflows across entire project lifecycles to deliver better, faster outcomes. With Informed Design, Autodesk is ushering the AECO (Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Operations) industry towards an industrialized setup that embeds sustainability throughout. Informed Design is bridging the gap between Manufacturing and Construction to build a platform for Industrialized Construction.

The Informed Design group is one of the Autodesk Incubation projects, that are focused on developing the next groundbreaking Autodesk solution. In this project, you'll find a lean and dynamic environment that resembles a startup organization while following Autodesk's high quality standards. This dynamic setting offers a unique opportunity to innovate and make significant contributions to the project while enjoying the support and resources of a well-established company.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage Infrastructure-as-a-Code (IaaC) using Terraform

  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar tools

  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of applications

  • Contribute with the design, implementation, and maintenance cloud infrastructure in AWS

  • Influence our overall strategy by helping define product features, drive the system architecture, and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality product

  • Interact with cross-functional engineering teams across the company

  • Dive into and take ownership of mission-critical software puzzles

  • Participate in and drive design reviews

  • Understand backend development and be able to implement AWS Lambda functions

  • Understand database systems concepts to support application needs

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize performance of cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines

  • Ensure adherence to best practices in security, compliance, and infrastructure management

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in service-oriented software engineering

  • Fluency in Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment framework and tools (Jenkins)

  • Experience in infrastructure-as-code software tools (Terraform)

  • Experience in platform-as-a-service architecture (Docker)

  • Experience on core AWS services: S3, CloudFront, Lambda, Route 53, API Gateway, CloudWatch, etc.

  • Experience in backend development and TDD or BDD

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills. Experience in SCRUM teams

  • Openness to work in a dynamic incubation environment 

  • Willing to learn new tools and technologies that lean towards better and simpler solutions

  • BSc in Computing Science degree, engineering, or experience in such fields.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Cloud-based database systems (AWS RDS, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, DynamoDB) 

  • Experience in the development of RESTful API using a back-end web application framework

  • Experience in building distributed cloud applications

  • Knowledge of Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience with end-to-end tests tools (Cypress, Playwright)

  • Knowledge of front-end frameworks (React)

  • Any of the following experience with Autodesk products is a plus:

    • development using the Autodesk Platform Services (APS) or the former Autodesk Forge API

    • development of Add-Ins for Revit, Inventor, or Fusion 360

    • or just some 3D design with any of our products

Responsabilités

  • Développer et gérer l'Infrastructure-as-a-Code (IaaC) en utilisant Terraform

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $98,600 and $144,650. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
