About the Role
Join our dynamic team in supporting the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) as we implement innovative and comprehensive risk management initiatives. As a Senior Risk Manager, you will be integral in developing risk management frameworks, collaborating with the business to identify and mitigate risks, and fostering a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across the organization.

Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to)
Collaborate with the CRO to design and implement risk management frameworks that ensure compliance with regulatory and governance requirements. To enable this, roles and responsibilities for the Senior Risk Manager will include supporting the CRO with the following matters:

Act as the Secretariat for the Branch Risk and Compliance Committee, including managing agendas, distributing papers, and taking minutes, while preparing the necessary reporting for the Committee.

Contribute to the ongoing development, implementation, and embedding of a sophisticated risk management framework, ensuring compliance with Prudential standards set by APRA.

Develop and deliver an annual Risk Plan and drive initiatives that align with the broader organizational strategy.

Champion the continuous enhancement of the risk culture at Everest, promoting an open and inclusive environment where risk discussions are encouraged.

Design and implement key risk indicators and dashboards to monitor the organization's risk profile, conducting regular environmental scans.

Lead coordination efforts on addressing regulatory developments impacting risk management processes.

Conduct deep dive reviews into specific risks, providing thorough assessments and insights.

Build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership, department heads, and subject matter experts, offering expert risk management guidance, support, and challenge.

Contribute to Group ERM initiatives, sharing local risk management expertise and supporting the adoption of new Group ERM tools and methodologies.

Produce clear and actionable risk management reports for Management, the Risk Committee, and the Board.

Perform other duties as required by the business.
Qualifications & Experience:

A degree in finance, economics, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.

Proven experience in risk management, compliance, or a related field is required.

Practical experience in risk analysis, particularly within the financial services or insurance sectors, is highly valued, but not required.

Hands-on experience in risk assessment, analysis, or compliance roles.

Demonstrated familiarity with multiple regulatory regimes, including those administered by APRA and ASIC.

Experience in both first line and second line risk management are preferred.
Skills & Competencies

In-depth knowledge of non-life insurance risks and experience with APRA requirements.

Strong understanding of laws and regulations affecting the general insurance industry.

Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritizing effectively to meet deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

High level of accuracy in evaluating risks, trends, and preparing reports.

Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.

Ability to influence stakeholders across different levels of the organization.
