Join PPG Aerospace as a Senior Quality Engineer! You will evaluate results and trends of product performance to customer standards. Resolve customer issues by leading a technical team to determine containment, root cause and corrective actions. This is an onsite role in our Sylmar, CA. facility. You will report to the Quality Engineering Manager.
Key Responsibilities

Work with MSS customers to understand the customer’s complaints and provide regular status.

Guide team to achieve quality goals, customer complaint cycle time targets and deliver high quality 8D reports.

Drive high quality into product design, manufacturing and sustaining using best practices such as Lessons Learned, Risk Assessment, DOE, DFT, DFM, etc...

Represent quality and customer requirements in change management and Quality Failure Analysis review meetings.

Lead as a member of cross-functional and cross-site teams using problem solving methodologies to address issues.

Support customer audits to evaluate the effectiveness of the quality management system.

Verify implementation of actions derived from customer audits, often interfacing with key managers with the ability to interact directly with external customers.

Follows progress of Customer Quality Notifications from creation to closure.

Determine gaps in process activities or product design leading to poor product performance.

Create quality reports to measure internal and external customer satisfaction performance.

Develop dashboard metrics/KPIs to measure customer quality performance.

Support Design Owners, Subject Matter Experts, and Process Improvement experts in driving process improvements to meet customer requirements.

Create processes using LEAN/Six Sigma principals.

Collect data to help identify root-cause of problems and plan solutions.

Creates corrective action reports and presentations
Qualifications
-
US Person
-
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education
-
8+ years of excellence. A combination of education and experience and experience will be considered
-
Ample experience with root cause and corrective action (RCCA)
-
Experience with AS9100 based Quality Management Systems
-
Experience managing customer complaint processes
-
Experience applying quality processes and tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Measuring System Analysis and Control Plans implementation.

Data mining experience is helpful

Experience with DCMA, FAA, working with Government contractors a plus

Salary Range $125,000-$135,000 plus annual bonus
