Job Description
Our Testers work with project teams to ensure software quality through systematic test planning, execution, and defect tracking, ensuring functionality, performance, and reliability of applications before deployment. With deep knowledge of various types of applications, databases, and operating systems, they maintain high standards of product excellence and user satisfaction.
As a performance tester in Endava, you will conduct the final test activity prior to release of the code to a live environment. The main objectives are to use the deployment notes to ensure that the final code will deploy correctly to a like live environment and then to validate performance in accordance with the target performance metrics for the application. The performance tester will use a variety of tools to validate and diagnose deployment, application and performance issues. The performance tester is focused on the delivery of quality software that meets the performance targets specified in the non-functional requirements across all of the product set.
Responsibilities:
- Test software systems, review and analyse documentation, specifications and understand the non-functional business requirements.
- Conduct final deployment validations to ensure that the deployment notes enable the frozen code to deploy correctly into a like live environment.
- Smoke test the deployed code to ensure that core functionality completes successfully.
- Create, maintain and run performance tests suites before and after deployments using the recommended toolset.
- Determine the adequate level of performance testing coverage in collaboration with the Test Manager, Solution Analysts and Business Users.
- Troubleshoot code deployments, application errors and performance test results using the recommended toolset and raise identified bugs.
- Provide sign off of all deployments to enable the code release to progress to the live environment.
- Maintain the technical test environment carrying out various administration tasks.
- Provide effective communication to all stakeholders to support the delivery of the performance test activity.
- Contribute to test planning and strategy, collaborating with QA and development teams to define test objectives, scope, and schedules.
- Provide input on risk assessment and mitigation strategies related to performance testing.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience
- Proven performance testing experience (including experience in testing a large amount of data and a lot of number of concurrent users) and diagnostic skills within these technologies:
- Load / performance testing using the JMeter/K6 toolset
- Diagnostic tools e.g. Fiddler
- GCP
- Selenium/Playwright (desirable, but not essential)
- Understanding of possible performance workflows/issues and Windows Server monitoring tools
- SQL scripting skills and knowledge of MS SQL tracing and profiling
- Experience in use of defect management tools
- Knowledge and experience in Web Services/API testing (SOAP/REST API).
- Knowledge in scripting and programming languages based on OOP.
- Proficiency in understanding software development life cycle (SDLC) and performance testing techniques.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills and attention to details
- Desirable: ISTQB Certification or other relevant certifications.
