Job Description

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead engineering efforts in designing and developing new products, focusing on cost reduction and compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities include producing conceptual designs, creating detailed drawings, and conducting thorough analyses using engineering tools. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will manage small product development projects, ensuring timely completion while identifying new product opportunities based on customer needs and competitive analysis. What You Will Do at Graco

Product Development and Engineering Tasks

  • Perform engineering tasks in the development of new products and cost reduction.

  • Participate in the development of Product Specification.

  • Produce conceptual designs and guide the development process to create practical designs.

  • Create detailed design drawings.

  • Identify applicable standards and provide analysis to these standards.

  • Conduct analysis of designs using engineering analysis tools and techniques (e.g., Finite Element Analysis).

  • Review instruction manuals and product literature.

  • Define and lead prototype development and lab and field tests.

  • Conduct design and safety reviews.

  • Work with manufacturing on process development.

Project Leadership and Management

  • Lead small new product development projects as required.

  • Complete project feasibility and Pre-Prod authorizations.

  • Create and maintain project schedules.

  • Manage projects to meet deadlines, collaborate with team members to complete all steps in the development process.

  • Identify and communicate threats to schedules to the appropriate management.

  • Participate in release-for-sale activities.

  • Provide periodic oral and written reports of project status.

Customer-Focused Innovation and Market Awareness

  • Participate in the identification of new product opportunities for Graco by:

    • Recognizing customer product needs.

    • Evaluating Graco and competitive products.

    • Proposing and developing proper technology to fulfill customer needs.

  • Stay abreast of developments in the technical field to maintain technical knowledge.

  • Keep up-to-date with Graco product lines, operational systems, design standards, and emerging market trends.

Product Support and Quality Assurance

  • Direct and perform standard product support activities such as:

    • Analyzing and writing Engineering Change Orders for products.

    • Troubleshooting product problems in manufacturing, lab, or customer sites.

    • Initiating corrective action activities.

  • Learn, participate in the development, and apply knowledge of:

    • Graco and industry design standards.

    • Graco Quality Management System.

    • Graco customer applications and requirements.

  • Work effectively in a team environment.

What You Will Bring to Graco

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent field.

  • 6+ years of experience in new product development with demonstrated repeated success producing innovative and successful products.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent engineering/technical aptitude.

Accelerators

  • Global industrial manufacturing experience and knowledge.

  • MBA or Master’s degree preferred

The base pay range for this position is listed below, exclusive of fringe benefits or other compensation.  If you are hired, your final base hourly rate will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, competencies, education, and/or experience.  In addition to those factors, we will also consider internal equity of our current employees.  Please keep in mind that the range provided is the full base salary range for the role.  Hiring at or near the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.

$93,800.00 - $164,200.00
