Senior Manager - Indirect Tax - Business Advisory (all genders)

We are looking for a Senior Manager - Indirect Tax - Business Advisory (all genders) to be based in Berlin to support our Group Tax Indirect Tax team. In this role, you will be leading projects, providing expert VAT guidance and ensuring compliance across our business operations in Europe. The ideal candidate will have fluent English language skills, professional experience in European VAT, excellent stakeholder management abilities, and a proven track record in delivering business insight on VAT topics.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• You will deliver business-relevant strategic insights and solutions for complex VAT challenges.

• You will lead VAT projects driven by legislative changes or business initiatives.

• You will build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders as a first point of contact with senior business partners (including Tax Authorities) through effective communication and mediation.

• You will anticipate risks with relevant risk mitigation plans, and innovative solutions across the Zalando group.

• You will contribute to community building by sharing knowledge, mentoring team members, and setting best practices.

• You will continuously identify and implement improvements in VAT processes, focusing on automation and innovation working with our VAT reporting team.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

• You have 7+ years of professional experience in European VAT advisory, as in-house expert or within a tax advisory/auditing firm.

• Degree in tax, law, economics, business administration or a comparable background or equivalent. German “Steuerberater” or local equivalent qualification is an advantage but not essential.

• You are fluent in English (both written and spoken), fluent German is advantageous.

• You have experience in dealing with tax audits.

• SAP knowledge and/or experience in other analytical programs and strong analytical abilities.

• Proactive approach, attention to detail, good communication skills, flexibility, and a willingness to take ownership over assigned projects.

• A strong interest in e-commerce, business and corporate strategy and an interest in working in an international environment.

• You are happy to work a minimum of 2 days a week in our Berlin office onsite with the VAT team and stakeholders.
