Responsible for the budgeting, design, constructing and support of cost effective, scalable, reliable and manageable network solutions focused on switch engineering. Responsible for managing the central office switches deployed by Charter Communications. Switches may be Constant Bit Rate (CBR)/Time Division Multiplexed (TDM) or packet based such as Voice Over IP soft switches.

- Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
- Provides both long range and tactical network plans in support of strategic and immediate needs.
- Directs and manages advanced troubleshooting process to resolve complex telephone related outages.
- Collaborates with all available internal and external resources for prompt resolution.
Oversees the trouble shooting efforts during major outages. Provides real time updates to executives. - Administers enterprise-wide Network Management Systems (NMS) applications and their associated operating systems and databases.
- Oversees management of Switch data architecture.
- Manages switch hardware, to include Constant Bit Rate (CBR)/ Time Division Multiplexed (TDM) or packet based switches such as Voice Over IP soft switches.
- Develops processes and procedures to allow switch platforms to be integrated into billing systems, trouble management systems, LNP (Local Number Portability), LIDB (Line Information Database), and other back office database systems.
- Ensures the documentation and compliance of Switch standards.
Provides upper levels with recommendations on advanced telephone network architecture, technologies, and protocols. - Develops and maintains proper reporting structures
- Oversees the comprehensive statistical reporting on the health of the switches and associated network.
- Ensures compliance with established processes, procedures and policies.
- Manages Switch software upgrades.
- Responsible for developing and training subordinate managers and engineers.
- Performs other duties as requested.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications
- Experience:
- 7 years Wireline, Wireless, or Broadband telephony switch installation or administration
- 7 years Voice operations experience in CLEC (Competitive Local Exchange Carrier), ILEC (Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier) or IXC (Inter-exchange Carriers)
- 5 years Database management and network configuration work experience
- 5 years Management experience
- Jira Experience
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience NCTI, SCTE, BCT/E certifications or other industry related certifications
- Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Ability to develop telecom traffic analyses and analyze the data providing concise recommendations to SR Management
- Ability to communicate effectively with Sr. Management, Trading Partners, etc.
- Ability to engineer telecommunication carrier networks
- Ability to negotiate effectively Ability to prepare budgets and scopes of work and track them to completion
- Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
- Ability to use personal computer and software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, etc.)
- Ability to work well internally and externally with people from different disciplines and varying degrees of technical and business experience
- In-depth knowledge circuit switching architectures and technology (e.g., SS7 signaling, dial plans, trunking, etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of PSTN (public switched telephone network) telephone industry practices, including in depth knowledge of Bellcore standards (GR-317, GR394, GR909, etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of telephone industry tariffs and applicable rates In-depth
- knowledge of telephone products and services
- In-depth knowledge of the public switched network designs, technology and
- architecture
- Ability to provide professional leadership under stressful conditions
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record within Company required standards

The base pay for this position generally is between
$110,800.00 and $196,400.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
