Position Summary:
 

The Senior Manager, People Operations position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The position formulates partnerships across the People function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The Senior Manager, People Operations maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition.

Furthering the People department’s mission of enabling strategy, shaping behaviors and driving results, the Senior Manager, People Operations solves organizational challenges through people-related solutions. The Senior Manager, People Operations partners with market leaders to ensure that the people programs and systems are in place to recruit, retain, develop and maximize talent. The position formulates partnerships across the People function to deliver value-added service to management and associates that reflects the business objectives of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Director, People Partners and Employee Relations to further refine the strategic and tactical components of the assigned People Operations division

  • Collaborate with Operations Leaders, becoming a go-to resource for employee relations matters, performance improvement, complex employee scenarios, terminations and/or employee actions, and other related matters, while maintaining a fair and consistent approach

  • Work with People Operations team to identify and handle employee relations issues and grievances quickly and sensitively, while exercising solid judgment and discretion, ensuring a collaborative approach with matrixed stakeholders as needed

  • Work on and lead employee relations projects, implementations, and initiatives, such as procedure updates and new processes

  • Manage investigations related to complex employee relations issues, providing guidance to the People Team, Operations management, and employees

  • Collect, document, and analyze evidence in order to deliver debriefs to stakeholders

  • Support the development, implementation, and delivery of training programs on employee relations topics, fostering a proactive approach to procedure applications and change management

  • Collaborate with the People Team to address emerging trends and proactively identify areas for improvement in employee relations processes and implement best practices

  • Partner with legal counsel to ensure that employee relations practices align with applicable laws and regulations

  • Analyze employee relations data to identify trends and recommend strategic interventions to improve the overall work environment

  • Support the output of talent calibrations, engagement surveys, exit surveys and performance appraisals and any appropriate actions

  • Manage the administration of employee safety, welfare, wellness & health initiatives, regulatory training, employee services and employee assistance programs

  • Own severance and separation agreements, workforce assessments and support policy interpretation requests for assigned markets

  • Stay updated on labor laws, regulations, and industry trends for policy enhancements

  • Identify, manage, and monitor risks, proposing improvements and mitigation strategies

  • Collaborate with Legal and People Team to implement Employee Relations policies and procedures

  • Administer approved company-wide employee relations policies and practices

  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Required Education & Experience:

  • A minimum of 6+ years of Human Resources experience, with an emphasis on Employee Relations

  • Minimum education level of: BA/BS degree (4 year) in related field, Master's Degree preferred

  • PHR/SHRM-CP or related HR Certification strongly preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience with Workday is highly desired

  • Previous supervisory experience managing at least 2-3 direct reports

Qualifications:

  • Must be willing to travel as per the needs of the business

  • Strong knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and labor relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • High standards of ethics and confidentiality

  • Possess exceptional organizational skills, prioritize, maintain attention to detail, and manage multiple projects

  • Exhibit the ability to lead change, use data for informed actions, and conduct thorough investigations

  • Strategic thinker with experience in execution of complex, cross-functional projects, and programs

  • Able to influence at all levels through clear, informed, and logical business justification and discussions supported by qualitative and quantitative data insights

  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.

  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skill
