As a fast-growing company, building and maintaining a strong relationship between investors and analysts is critical to Xero’s success. Reporting to the EGM - Investor Relations, the Senior Investor Relations Manager will play a critical role in the investor relations function, and the wider finance team, of one of the world’s most innovative technology companies. As well as helping support the team as it manages / responds to the needs of key external stakeholders,the Senior Investor Relations Manager will also work to provide insights across Xero, including reporting to Xero’s Leadership Team.


The role involves working closely with a range of key Xero stakeholders to drive messaging to an internationally diverse group of investors and analysts. Key relationships include the CEO, CFO, Corporate Communications Team, Strategy Team, Legal Team and the wider Xero Leadership Team.

What you'll do

  • Management and delivery of major elements of Xero’s investor relations strategy and key projects within Xero’s annual investor/stakeholder engagement program including: Results announcements , Annual General Meeting, domestic (ANZ) and international investor roadshows / conferences, and our Xerocon events 
  • Undertake complex analysis around market expectations and sentiment on behalf of various stakeholders across the business including the CFO Leadership Team, Xero Leadership Team and Board
  • Coach and develop members of the Investor Relations team 
  • Manage the preparation of detailed analysis / financial modeling on behalf of the Investor Relations team to support responses to inbound investor and analyst queries and organise/host investor meetings  
  • Project manage preparation of high-quality investor materials and market-related press releases for lodgement on the ASX
  • Play a key role in the preparation of other external and internal communications including annual/interim reports and investor presentations, Q&A documents, presentations, speaking notes and board papers
  • Become a point of contact for the Investor Relations team when it comes to handling inbound investor and analyst queries  
  • Prepare financial analysis and reporting to help Xero monitor market trends including consensus forecasts
  • Play a key role in preparation of board reporting, and conduct proactive investor targeting, using shareholder registry analysis 
  • Help manage Xero’s pre-AGM engagement strategy including arranging time with management and/or board directors and preparation for (or response to) interactions with proxy advisors and shareholder associations
  • Build market knowledge through monitoring market activity, news flow, peer activity, macro events and other relevant indicators for use in engagement with external and internal stakeholders
  • Conduct detailed analysis of and public information releases of key competitors plus relevant industry developments in Australasia and globally
  • Play a role in supporting / managing delivery  of additional ad-hoc projects that require Investor Relations input such as M&A, forecasting/planning and treasury/capital management, and ESG related projects
  • Proactively understand and manage risks as they relate to your role
  • Proactively understand and manage compliance and regulatory obligations for your areas of responsibility.

  • Playing a key role in preparing key materials for external stakeholders 
  • Becoming a trusted and influential partner to Corporate Communications, Strategy, Legal, and the Xero Leadership Teams
  • Act as a key contact to investor and analyst community both within the domestic market(s) and internationally
  • Confident written and verbal presentation of research and analysis of complex matters in an accurate and succinct way to senior members of the management team (including the Xero Leadership Team), with a view to support key decision-making
  • Take primary responsibility for some of the activities of the Investor Relation function
  • Scope to develop and shape Xero's investor relations function and wider reputation in the market as the company evolves and grows at pace

What you'll bring with you

  • Around 3-4 years work experience within either investor relations, finance, corporate strategy, capital markets, consulting or functions.
  • Direct experience in an ASX listed company FP&A or Investor Relations will be viewed favourably
  • Exposure to technology/SaaS/high growth companies will be viewed favourably
  • A strong academic track record with a tertiary qualification in a numerically focused discipline specifically in accounting of finance
  • Additional finance-related professional qualifications such as CA or working towards CFA (Level I completed or above), will be viewed favourably
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and project management skills
  • Accounting and / or finance knowledge & skills, with experience in FP&A or capital markets a plus 
  • Excellent written, verbal and relationship building skills in order to promote ideas and analysis to a wide range of Xero stakeholders including investors, other internal teams and members of the Xero Leadership Team and Board
  • Capacity to work in a flexible work environment, managing the need to engage with stakeholders in US / UK timezones
  • The ability to work comfortably with financial datasets in Excel / Google Sheets and perform analysis to create reports and presentation using various software packages (i.e Google G Suite and Microsoft Office)
