Snr. Manager – US excise tax SME, advisory, projects and audits
World Kinect Corporation is a dynamic and rapidly growing organization dedicated to delivering innovative solutions to our clients. As a leader in our industry, we understand the importance of staying compliant with tax regulations and managing our indirect tax audits properly. Hence, we are seeking a US excise tax snr. manager to partner with our commercial stakeholders to support on strategic business initiatives & projects, as well as working together with our team members in charge of preparing our US excise tax returns to ensure correctly, timely and efficiently filing of all our excise tax returns. This role shall include pro-actively advising, and acting as US excise tax subject matter expert, on day-to-day operational matters as well as monitoring and managing our US excise tax risks. This role shall also oversee all our US indirect tax audits, notices and requests for information and ensure we comply with all Federal, State & Local indirect tax laws, administrative rules and regulations.
Key responsibilities
- US excise tax advisory and risk management: acting as US excise tax advisory SME within the broader WKC commercial and business community. Pro-actively identifying, managing, developing and implementing mitigation plans regarding WKC US indirect tax risks.
- US excise tax compliance – providing indirect tax compliance guidance to team members in charge of preparing our US excise tax returns to ensure returns are accurately filed and fully reconciled with our G/L’s.
- US indirect tax audits: managing all our US indirect tax audits, request for information and notices. This shall require a very hands-on person able to gather and review large sets of data, documents, information and working closely with other departments, as well as external stakeholders.
- External relationships & communication: Develop and maintain relationships with tax authorities and represent WKC's interests in all US indirect tax-related matters.
- Project management: managing all US indirect tax matters (plan and execute) of WKC larger business, technology and operational projects and initiatives. This can include ao develop, maintain, drive and execute a comprehensive project plan, as well as collaborating with key stakeholders to define project scope, objectives and deliverables.
- Regulatory Adherence: stay informed about changes in US indirect tax regulations at the federal, state, and local levels, and ensure they are embedded in our day-to-day indirect tax compliance processes.
Key Requirements
- Strong communication and project management skillsets
- + 6 to 8 years of US excise taxes and motor fuel taxes advisory expertise in the energy sector. Knowledge of other US indirect taxes is a strong plus.
- Previous strong experience managing and leading all activities of US indirect tax audits is required.
- Good knowledge of general accounting rules.
- Problem solver, who can resolve issues effectively and creatively while maintaining a high level of flexibility, professionalism, and integrity.
