The Community You Will Join: 

The Senior Manager, Editorial Data is part of the Airbnb Channel Communications team, a truly cross-functional group, and acts as the connective tissue between the global communications team and the regions around the world. 

The Communications team is responsible for telling the Airbnb story around the world. Whether we are briefing press on inspiring travel trends, highlighting unique stays & experiences led by local hosts, or explaining how travel on our platform benefits local families and communities, we are the voice of Airbnb on a broad range of topics.

The Difference You Will Make:

Airbnb is looking for a Senior Communications Manager, Editorial Data, to join our dynamic Communications team. In this role, the Senior Manager will spearhead the comms-data workstream, focused on the development of compelling narratives and strategic messaging rooted in data insights. You will play a crucial part in contributing data-driven insights to newsroom content, press pitches, and executive talking points. Your expertise will help shape how Airbnb communicates its story, using data to tell compelling narratives to external audiences.

A Typical Day: 

  • Analyze data to uncover compelling insights for use in external communications, including newsroom posts, media pitches, press interviews, and executive talking points.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of data-driven PR campaigns.
  • Write reproducible, dynamic SQL queries and conduct peer reviews of colleagues’ queries for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Generate creative ways to integrate data with ongoing trends or current events.
  • Complete data-related assignments within set timelines, presenting results in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Translate complex data into clear, visually engaging formats, including charts, graphs, and maps.

Your Expertise:

  • A minimum of 7-9 years of professional experience in data analysis or a related field, with a proven track record of extracting actionable insights from large datasets.
  • Expertise in SQL and proficiency in at least one programming language, such as R or Python.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or D3 is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to distill complex data into clear, compelling narratives for non-technical audiences.
  • Experience managing projects in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated management experience in managing and mentoring teams.
  • Background in communications/PR is a plus.

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant will need to be based in San Francisco to be able to conduct their work. Currently, employees can not be located in: Alaska, North Dakota, and Mississippi. Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
