Senior Java Backend Developer
Summary of the Role
Amadeus Hospitality GFA (Guest Facing Applications) team is searching for a Senior Java Backend Developer to join our ambitious and talented team. We are looking for a proactive and initiative-driven person to help drive and execute ambitious projects, primarily focusing on the design and development of APIs to support an exceptional user experience in hotel search and booking.
Our ideal candidate communicates effectively, leads projects, handles complex tasks, and explains them in simple terms. They have strong technical experience with APIs, embrace challenges, and foster a positive team environment.
In this role, you will:
Common Accountabilities:

Leverage Your Expertise: Apply your advanced and specialized technical/functional knowledge to achieve success in your discipline.

Be a Mentor: Support and guide less experienced team members, acting as a reference point for colleagues.

Influence and Innovate: Contribute to decision-making related to your activities, foresee dependencies and consequences in complex scenarios, contribute to cross-functional projects, and propose process improvements.

Take Ownership: Be accountable for your own and your team’s commitments, working autonomously within the framework set by your manager, with guidance on the most complex situations.
Specific Accountabilities:

Analyse Specifications: Define requirements for developing new or upgrading existing software solutions.

Design Systems and Code: Create technical solutions and conduct feasibility studies. Present viable technical solutions to Product Management and/or users for validation. Develop software according to Amadeus standards. Model, design, and implement databases.

Test and Maintain the Software: Perform unit, package, and performance tests to ensure high-quality standards. Participate in the product validation phase, making necessary adjustments to finalize the product. Provide customer support by debugging existing solutions in collaboration with Product Managers or Product Definition Analysts.

Document Your Work: Produce and distribute software documentation to the relevant departments.
About the Ideal Candidate:

5+ years of Java backend development experience.

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.

Strong knowledge of API design and implementation best practices.

Experience with Java, Spring Framework, and Hibernate.

Proficient in SQL, RESTful services, and microservices architecture.

Previous experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Strong communication and leadership abilities.
