How You Will Contribute:

Plan, create, develop, write, edit, and update a variety of software/hardware multimedia and web-based customer technical publications (product descriptions, application/platform guides, installation manuals, operation and administration manuals, user guides, API reference guides, etc.) for packet optical and network management products.

Research and translate technical information into multimedia and web-based documents (including on-product context-sensitive help) for non-technical and technical users.

Recommend and implement new documentation methods and formats that serve and satisfy technical and customer requirements.

Produce product documentation and online help that is clear, concise, and compliant with documentation and quality assurance standards.

Collaborate within cross-functional teams that includes senior Product Line Management, Software & Hardware Design, Product Verification, System Network Engineering, Customer Support, and Marketing personnel.
The Must Haves:

Experience with the packet-optical/data hardware and provisioning/monitoring aspects of telecommunications equipment/networks

Expert proficiency with Adobe FrameMaker (Structured/XML)

Experience with DITA
-
Experience with editorial software, such as Congree or Acrolinx

Experience with CMS/CCMS document management systems

Experience with Agile development processes

Ability to transition among changing priorities and requirements

Seasoned skills in problem solving and judgment

Working proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Working proficiency with Visio, Illustrator, and/or other vector-based graphics creation and editing applications

Pay Ranges:
The annual pay range for this position is $71,900 - $114,900 CAD

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission. In addition to competitive compensation, Ciena offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, participation in 401(K) (USA) & DCPP (Canada) with company matching, Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company-paid holidays, paid sick leave, and vacation time.
