We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Senior HR Advisor to join our Wellington Transport Alliance team in our Wellington office. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in HR advisory roles, including employment relations, performance management, and employee development. In this complex Alliance environment, you will be the go-to person providing comprehensive and professional HR advice and guidance to managers, ensuring HR best practices are adhered to and risks are mitigated.
In addition to the above you will lead on:
- End to end recruitment for Waged positions
- Supporting managers with the onboarding and induction of new employees
- Delivering the Annual Wellbeing and Events Programme
- Facilitating compliance training and professional development
- Coaching delivery leads and people leaders on HR and people management processes
In addition to the above, you will support the management of complex people issues including serious misconduct, performance management, restructures and dispute resolution processes such as grievances and mediation.

We’re looking for someone with:
- A HR or Business Management qualification
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a generalist HR role
- Experience operating and delivering across a variety of HR functions
- Experience providing coaching and advice at tier 3 (manager/ people leader) level
- Sound understanding of New Zealand employment legislation
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment where change is constant
- Experience working in a construction or road maintenance environment
- Experience working in an Alliance environment, ideally within the Civil industry

This is a permanent position located in our Wellington office. This position is 40 hours per week Monday to Friday. The Salary banding for this role is $95,000 to $105,000 per annum
