Job Description:
The Senior Engineering Manager - North America for Distribution Transformers is responsible for providing strategic direction, leadership, management, and coordination of the engineering function within the HUB. This role ensures that all engineering activities meet the required necessities, including contractual requirements such as scope and on-time delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Contribution:
o Lead engineering teams responsible for distribution transformers, ensuring delivery of projects on time and within budget.
o Provide direction to teams with a focus on safety, quality, and margin improvement.
2. Customer and Sales:
o Build and maintain customer relationships, seek feedback, and provide innovative solutions to meet customer requirements.
o Support the bid phase and present proposals to customers.
o Collaborate with business development to target new opportunities and present new technology and innovation at conferences and client events.
3. Contract Management:
o Oversee contractual work within the area of responsibility.
o Conduct regular progress reviews and manage contractual risks.
4. Planning and Control:
o Ensure engineering teams are adequately resourced, developed, and equipped to meet business needs.
o Oversee planning and control processes in the engineering teams and conduct regular reviews to ensure compliance with customer and Hitachi Energy requirements.
5. Risk and Opportunity Management:
o Create and implement plans to manage business risks and maximize opportunities.
o Ensure required systems are understood, developed, and correctly implemented.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Extensive experience in engineering management with 3-5 years in a managerial role, preferably within the transformer industry. 10+ Years of Experience in a Manufacturing Environment.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and customer relationship management skills.
• Proven ability to manage contractual work and associated risks.
• Experience in planning, control, and supply chain management.
• Strong technical knowledge of distribution transformers.
