Job Description

This position is hybrid and will be required to be in office two times per month for collaboration working sessions.

Job Summary:

The Sr Desktop Engineer is responsible for design, development and operations of Microsoft Intune, Azure ARC and Horizon VDI.  In this role, you will be responsible for apps, autopilot, configuration policies, virtual desktop development and leveraging the Microsoft Graph API to automate, optimize, and enhance our Microsoft Intune environment. You will play a critical role in developing and implementing custom solutions, integrations, and reporting capabilities to improve our endpoint management and security posture. You will work closely with IT administrators, security engineers, and developers to meet business needs and drive innovation within our Intune ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

  • Intune and SCCM Management:
    • Design, configure, and maintain Microsoft Intune and SCCM policies for device enrollment, configuration, compliance, security and Autopilot.
    • Design, configure, and maintain reporting and workbooks utilizing Microsoft Graph API
    • Manage MacOS and applications through Intune.
    • Implement and manage conditional access policies to protect corporate data.
    • Package, deploy, and update applications via Intune and PatchMyPC.
    • Technical expertise in Windows, PowerShell, SCCM, SQL, and WMI as well as other enterprise applications.
    • Troubleshoot Intune-related issues and provide support to end-users.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest Intune features and best practices.
  • Horizon VDI Management:
    • Administer and maintain the VMware Horizon VDI environment, including virtual desktop pools, application publishing, and user profiles.
    • Design, implement, and manage virtual desktop images and application delivery strategies.
    • Monitor VDI performance and troubleshoot performance issues.
    • Implement and maintain security policies for the VDI environment.
    • Manage user profiles and personalization within the VDI environment.
  • Azure Arc and Update Manager:
    • Onboard and manage on-premises servers and virtual machines into Azure using Azure Arc.
    • Implement and maintain Azure Arc policies for governance, compliance, and security.
    • Configure and manage Azure Arc-enabled services, such as Azure Monitor, Azure Policy, and Azure Update Management, across hybrid environments.
    • Troubleshoot Azure Arc connectivity and management issues.
    • Automate Azure Arc deployments and configurations using scripting and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
    • Monitor and optimize the performance of Azure Arc-managed resources.
  • General End-User Computing:
    • Develop and maintain documentation for Intune, Azure and Horizon VDI configurations and procedures.
    • Provide Tier 2/3 support for end-user computing issues related to Intune, Horizon VDI, and related technologies.
    • Collaborate with other IT teams (e.g., security, networking) to ensure a cohesive and secure end-user environment.
    • Participate in the planning and execution of end-user computing projects.
    • Contribute to the development of automation scripts and tools to streamline end-user computing tasks.
    • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and best practices in end-user computing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in managing endpoint management solutions, VDI environments, and/or cloud infrastructure.
  • Required Experience:
    • Proven experience with Microsoft Intune for endpoint management.
    • Hands-on experience with Horizon VDI administration and troubleshooting.
    • Experience with Azure Arc and hybrid cloud management.
  • Strong Knowledge of:
    • Windows Server operating systems.
    • Active Directory and Group Policy.
    • Networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
    • Security principles and best practices.
    • Scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell).
  • Desired Skills:
    • Experience with other MDM solutions (e.g., VMware Workspace ONE).
    • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Azure Resource Manager).
    • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate, VMware Certified Professional – Digital Workspace).
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
