Roblox is seeking a Senior Consumer Communications Manager with broad experience across consumer/marketing media and brand partnership communications to join our in-house communications team for a 4-month temporary contract (Between May 26 through Sept 30, dates may shift).
The right candidate is a strategic thinker, gifted publicist and storyteller who combines creativity and proactivity to develop scalable global campaigns and initiatives that are primarily focused on supporting announcements with top brands and advertising partners, along with some consumer/product communications. We are looking for a proactive individual who is well-connected with media, knows how to tap into trends to demonstrate the platform’s cultural relevance and work with data, come up with fresh narratives, and collaborate with global brands and partners to generate media coverage about Roblox across key outlets and verticals, creating industry buzz and consumer interest in the brand.
This role reports to the Senior Director of Consumer Communications.
You Will:
- Develop and implement public relations efforts around notable brand partnerships, IP and platform trends
- Conceptualize, lead, and execute impactful consumer-facing global, regional and/or market specific media relations initiatives and campaigns in support of key business objectives, including broad consumer awareness and perception of the Roblox platform and brand
- Develop and manage relationships with key consumer and industry reporters (lifestyle, entertainment, sports, music, advertising/marketing and others)
- Analyze trends and data (both platform data and consumer surveys) to come up with newsworthy narratives, reports and story ideas for consumer and industry media
- Coordinate with the product communications team on upcoming product launches to increase reach in consumer and marketing industry outlets
- Work with leaders in the partnerships organization to liaise on broader business strategies across industry verticals (i.e. entertainment, music, sports) and upcoming initiatives for recommendations on messaging and PR amplification, as well as broader trends research
- Lead Roblox’s participation in the key industry events across several verticals, both local and internationally, and serve as PR lead at relevant trade shows/other industry events
- Proactively brainstorm new campaign ideas and collaborate with PR agencies globally to help develop impactful and efficient results around consumer/partnerships PR efforts
- Bring a creative approach to deliver measurable and attributable results
You have:
- 10+ years of experience in Brand or Consumer PR, including driving comms for top brands/partnerships and global public companies (consumer tech, entertainment, media or gaming preferred)
- Experience developing impactful and successful proactive consumer/brand PR campaigns and an appetite for crafting news
- Existing media relationships across entertainment, sports, lifestyle, music and marketing media, and proven skill and passion in building new relationships, including examples of successfully delivered high-impact placements for brands
- Experience commissioning research or mining internal data to support storytelling and tailoring based on market needs
- Confidence producing content for different markets, channels, and media
- Ability to forge relationships across the business
- Excellent written and interpersonal skills
- Agency management experience
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual hourly rate could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Please note that not all benefits shown below are applicable to this position.
Monthly Salary Range
$20,585—$20,585 USD
Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).

We are requiring employees to be in the office three days a week – with core days being Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On Mondays and Fridays, employees may choose to work remotely, although the office will still be open.
