How You Will Contribute:

Reporting to Sr. Director, Enterprise Transformation, as the Senior Process Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and implementing a robust, company-wide process management system. You will be a key leader in driving process excellence across all departments, mapping key processes, identifying improvement opportunities, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Process Management System Implementation:

  • System Implementation: Lead the selection, customization, and implementation of a new process management software solution aligned with company needs and industry best practices.

  • Training: Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for employees at all levels on the new system and process mapping methodologies.

  • Be the system guru: Establish data governance policies, user roles and permissions, and best practices for data input and reporting to guarantee the integrity and long-term sustainability of the system.

Process Mapping and Optimization:

  • Collaborate with department leaders and subject matter experts to map critical end-to-end processes across the organization. Partner with department heads and subject matter experts to meticulously document existing "as-is" processes, utilizing industry-standard methodologies like BPMN or SIPOC to create clear and comprehensive process maps.

  • Analyze for improvement: Apply your analytical expertise to pinpoint process bottlenecks, inefficiencies, redundancies, and compliance gaps. Propose data-driven solutions for process optimization, including automation opportunities.

  • Design and implement future-state processes: Lead the development of streamlined "to-be" processes, incorporating best practices, standardization, and automation where feasible. Design and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, improve quality, and mitigate risks.

  • Analyze for improvement: Apply your analytical expertise to pinpoint process bottlenecks, inefficiencies, redundancies, and compliance gaps. Propose data-driven solutions for process optimization, including automation opportunities.

  • Design and implement future-state processes: Lead the development of streamlined "to-be" processes, incorporating best practices, standardization, and automation where feasible.

Continuous Improvement and Change Management:

  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting process-oriented thinking and providing guidance on process optimization methodologies.

  • Measure what matters: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of process improvements and drive accountability.

  • Change Champion: Act as a change agent, communicating the value of process management and driving adoption. Address concerns, overcome resistance, and foster buy-in throughout the organization.

The Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in process engineering or process improvement roles, ideally within a similar industry. Prior experience with the implementation of a company-wide process management capability is important.

  • Proven successfully implementing process management systems and driving process improvement initiatives.

  • Strong understanding of process mapping methodologies e.g., Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN), and Suppliers, Inputs, Process, Outputs and Customers (SIPOC) and process analysis tools.

  • Experience with process automation tools and technologies is highly desirable.

  • Demonstrate years of organizational leadership skills running an operations organization spanning countries, cultures, and time zones.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

Pay Range:
 

The annual pay range for this position in Canada is $107,000 - $171,000 CAD.

The annual pay range for this position in US is $134,000 - $214,000 .

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission. In addition to competitive compensation, Ciena offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, participation in 401(K) (USA) & DCPP (Canada) with company matching, Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company-paid holidays, paid sick leave, and vacation time.
